THIS WEEK @ HATBOX THEATRE

December 13. Discovering Magic. This "mind-numbing, jaw-dropping, eye-opening" experience takes audiences on a guided tour of the impossible and the absurd. Using only the most ordinary of objects, accomplished actor, conjuror, puppeteer, storyteller, and award-winning performer Andrew Pinard brings the ordinary to life with the most surprising results. FINAL PERFORMANCE OF 2017! Wednesday @ 7:30pm.

“We just saw this delightful show yesterday. There are only three performances left next weekend and I highly recommend it for the whole family. Hatbox Theatre is ... a small venue of less than 100 seats so you feel like you are right on stage with Scrooge and Marley and the other characters. At under two hours, this show will amaze and surprise you and scare you just a little."—AG

December 1-17. Dickens' A Christmas Carol. Produced by Hatbox Theatre. Adapted by Jill Pinard; Directed by Andrew Pinard. Last year Hatbox launched a new Concord tradition, bringing back A Christmas Carol to Concord. The production was highly acclaimed and featured on NHPR. In this original adaption of the holiday classic, Hatbox Theatre focuses on how the dream-like qualities of the ghost story aspect of Dickens’ work can bring about redemption. Is it “an undigested bit of beef” – a line in the original story – that leads Scrooge to have bad dreams or is he really being visited by ghosts intent on helping him redeem himself. Audience members, too, will wonder if they are dreaming when they are immersed in sound, lights and projections that bring out these eerier aspects of Scrooge’s fateful night. The production has continued to evolve and for 2017, the seating has been reconfigured in a way never before done at Hatbox with new cast members from two states (and a few returning local favorites). Photos by Jane Button Photography. Fridays & Saturdays @ 7:30pm; Sundays @ 2pm.
