The World Bank's Climate-Smart Agriculture

The World Bank is a leading financier of agriculture, with $4 billion in new commitments in Fiscal Year 2017. It works with countries, helping introduce innovation, and providing infrastructure and resources so that the food and agriculture sector is climate-smart, improves livelihoods and creates more and better jobs, includes inclusive and efficient value chains, and produces safe and nutritious food. 

In its "Climate-Smart Agriculture" blog post, The World Bank discusses how WCF, IDH the Sustainable Trade Initiative, and the Prince of Wales’s International Sustainability Unit's Cocoa & Forests Initiative is bringing together top cocoa-producing countries and the leading chocolate and cocoa companies to end deforestation in the cocoa supply chain.

A Central American Learning Journey into Climate Smart Cocoa

Climate change is posing a rapidly rising threat to the Central American region's cocoa crop. Safeguarding the region’s ability to produce fine flavor and high-quality cocoa is of great interest to farmers and chocolate makers alike. Addressing this challenge is the focus of WCF’s Climate Smart Cocoa program. 

In a new blog post, WCF's Latin America Program Consultant for Climate Smart Cocoa Falguni Guharay describes how in June 2017, WCF partnered with others to organize a Learning Journey within the framework of the Regional Cocoa Value Chain Knowledge Management Project in Honduras.
