AFRICAN NETWORK INFORMATION CENTRE (AFRINIC-27) FOR AFRICA AND INDIAN OCEAN.
Participants from various countries in Africa and the Indian Ocean gathered at the Renaissance Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos from 27th November to 1st December, 2017 for the 27th conference of the African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC) dubbed AFRINIC-27, with the theme: “Taking the African Internet to the Next Level through Policy, Collaboration and Education”. The conference was hosted by the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA).
They stressed the need for more collaboration among African countries to boost the Internet economy and called for improved local hosting of Internet traffic. This, they claimed would help to support Internet development in Africa and boost the economy. According to them, with right policy and efficient infrastructure in place, traffic meant for Africa need not travel to either Europe or America before coming back to Africa.

ICANN62 Fellowship Application
 ICANN opened the Fellowship Program application round for ICANN62. ICANN62 is a Policy Forum, so this round is open only to Fellowship Program Alumni, those who have previously completed an ICANN Fellowship. The meeting is from 25 th to 28 th June 2018 in Panama City, Panama. The deadline to apply for the fellowship is 28 th December 2017. Successful candidates will be announced on 9 th March 2018 on https://icann.org/.
The ICANN Fellowship Program seeks out individuals who are interested in, or already engaged in, the various aspects of ICANN's work in policymaking, the operation of the Domain Name System, and the security and stability of the global Internet. The goal of the program is to help create a broader and more diverse base of knowledgeable constituents who can engage in the ICANN multi-stakeholder process and become the new voices of experience in their regions and on the global stage.

.NG Domain Name Report as at November 2017

By 30 th November 2017, there were 100,973 active .NG domain names. There were 6,254 domain registrations in November 2017, compared with 5,221 domain registrations in November 2016.
