Christmas Office Closures
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous 2018. Most of our staff are now on leave to recharge and spend time with their families. We'll be back on deck Monday 8 January. 

Our offices located in Kempsey, Coffs Harbour, Grafton and Lismore will be closed from 4.30 pm on Friday 22 December and will re-open at 8.30 am on Monday 8 January 2018. Our Casino office will be closed from 3.00 pm on Tuesday 19 December and will re-open at 10.00 am on Monday 8 January 2018.

If you suspect an emergency animal disease, please contact the emergency disease watch hotline on 1800 675 888.

For invasive species matters including wild dog attack or travelling stock reserves please contact our after hours service on 0427 458 590.

If you suspect the presence of an exotic plant disease or pest, please contact the exotic plant pest hotline on 1800 084 881.

In the event of native vegetation clearing matters, contact the Environment Line on 131 555.

Natural disaster funding
Recovery grants for bushfire events in August and September, additional grants for the March flood event and the August and November hail events have recently been announced. To apply for a recovery grant, flood affected primary producers should contact the NSW Rural Assistance Authority on 1800 678 593 or visit the NSW Rural Assistance Authority website

Board recruitment underway
North Coast Local Land Services is looking for an enthusiastic and progressive person willing to make a difference to land management to join the local board. The North Coast Local Board currently has a vacancy for a local board member. A recruitment package is available on Local Land Services website. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 30 January 2018.

Looking out for Theileria
District Vets are reminding cattle producers to be on the lookout for cases of bovine anaemia caused by Theileria orientalis group, following several recent confirmed cases of the disease on local properties. Theileria are protozoan parasites that can be carried by ticks, including bush ticks.

Protecting cultural heritage
Learning about the impact feral animals on cultural heritage and traditional practices in the Upper Clarence is on the agenda. Local Aboriginal people are being trained in feral pig management, weed control and how they protect cultural heritage.

World Heritage safe haven
Investment in Lord Howe Island’s World Heritage natural ecosystems is continuing, consolidating work already completed on two threats: the African Big Headed Ant, and weeds in the Lord Howe Island Settlement, cliffs and rugged terrain to protect the unique Oceanic Cloud Forest.

Using innovative technology
Local macadamia growers recently learned about the benefits of new technology to manage their on farm drainage in a workshop organised jointly by the growers with North Coast Local Land Services, NSW Department of Primary Industries and Australian Macadamia Society.

A prickly weed problem
Over the last two years North Coast LLS has partnered with Clarence Landcare and private and public landowners to strategically manage one of our worst weeds. The extent and impact of a weed invasion, can make it challenging to effectively manage with limited resources.
