Sumner Bays Union Trust newsletter

Sumner Bays Union Trust
Hi everyone,

A big thank you to everyone who came to the Sumner Redcliffs Community Carols. It was our most successful night yet.
Thank you to:
  • The Sumner Silver Band, conducted by Ray Blampied
  • Peter Croft for putting up the signage and generally supporting the band and the event
  • The Sumner Surf Lifesaving Club  for hosting us
  • Kim Georgine for being our MC
  • Karen Walker, Rosemary Neave, and some members of the Sumner Theatre Group and Rockers of Ages choirs who helped us with the singing
  • Stig Eldred AKA Santa
  • Dave Bailey and the Sumner Volunteer Brigade for bringing Santa to us
  • The Sumner Community Residents Association for lending us their sound system and Paul Bolger for setting it up and transporting it.
  • Rev. Thomas Brauer from the Sumner Redcliffs Anglican Parish for speaking on the night.
  • The Christchurch City Council for funding this event
Holidays
Eddie will be away from midday Thursday 21 December 2017 until 8 am Monday 15 January 2018. Maree will be working through the holiday period (except for public holidays).

Mini Music wound up for 2017 with us farewelling Cathy White. Next year we’ll have a new tutor. If you are interested in being that tutor, let me know. It’s a part time paid position of three hours per week during term time. The ability to be able to engage effectively with babies/toddlers/pre-schoolers and their parents/caregivers is crucial, as well as being punctual and well organised, and being able to sing. Mini Music resumes on 30 January 2018 in Sumner and on 1 February in Redcliffs.

Coffee & Conversation will be running on Thursday 4 and 11 January at 10.30 am in the Uniting Church hall on Augusta Street. Tea & Talk will resume on Monday 8 January. Tea & Talk will be running out of the Sumner Library’s meeting room at the Matuku Takotako Sumner Centre next year. Coffee & Conversation’s Christmas breakup will be tomorrow, Thursday 21 December at 10.30 am.

We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and happy, healthy, and safe New Year.

Warm regards,
Eddie Hayes
