Seasons Greetings

Over the years I have acquired quite a number of seed packets.  Some I’ve purchased, others have been gifts from friends or picked up from garden club meetings.  Most remain unopened.  The process of getting the seeds out of the package and into the appropriate planting situation has, so far, mostly eluded me.  One of the things I really appreciate about gardening though is that it is rarely “too late”.  There is every possibility that were I to decide to plant any of these seeds in the coming months, they would grow.

And so, as we put our garden plots to bed and look to the New Year, my wish for all is that your gardening possibilities, in whatever form, become gardening realities.   If you’ve thought of volunteering with a food bank garden or helping out with a local weeding group or sitting on the executive of your local garden club, I hope this is the year you take the plunge.  Perhaps you’re considering turning part of your yard into a vegetable garden or creating a small herb garden in your kitchen window.  Do it! Possibly you’ve been working on getting a community garden up and running or looking for funds to transform a local garden park.  May this be the year you see results.  Whatever your gardening plans are for 2018, here’s to a glorious new year full of possibility.
Happy New Year all!
