What is your potential on tonight's Long Dark Night?

Dear <<First Name>>,

On this Winter Solstice, we hope you take the opportunity to tune into what is happening in the natural world.  Notice the sun low on the Southern horizon.  Take the opportunity to be with the Long Dark night.  Notice the Quiet and the deepening Cold.  Even as the snows and the temperatures will likely continue to deepen over the next six weeks, we can start to notice the lengthening days and the journey of the Sun moving higher in the sky each day.

In many traditions attuned to the Natural Cycles (and in temperate zones such as the Northeast with distinct seasons), this is a time for quietly listening for what is being born in the Dark that will grow and manifest as the days grow longer.  Think of the buds on the trees, the seeds, and roots below the surface that are waiting... that potential that will spring forth when the days are longer and it is warmer.

What is the seed, root potential, bud in you this winter?  What do you want to support growing and what will support that growth, that potential?

Here at Vermont Wilderness School, our end-of-year giving campaign is aimed at supporting the health, well-being, and on-going growth of Vermont Wilderness School and all the children, adults, and life we support. We are raising $30,000 for our scholarship fund, so please join us!

However you are moved, may you indeed take that pause as the sun seems to pause above us, teetering between shorter and shorter days... and the days getting longer.  Listen deep into the Winter Quiet... for the seeds of the coming spring and summer.

Thank you,
Amy Hyatt & The VWS Team
