As 2017 draws to a close, we would like to thank all our partners for the positive and encouraging work that has taken place over the past year to help progress the delivery of the CSGN.
We now look forward to the new year when we will welcome a new Head of Strategic Development at CSGNT in March, and we will also be launching programme details of the CSGN Forum taking place in June. To coincide with the event, we will also be unveiling a new grant in January.
Meanwhile, we would like to wish you a very happy holiday season, and we look forward to sharing more network news with you in 2018.

The date for next year’s CSGN Forum is 14 June, and the event will be held at Glasgow Caledonian University and is focusing on ‘Children, young people + green space = a healthy equation’. Watch this space for further announcements about the programme.
We will also be launching a new grant which will be awarded at the forum. Details of the grant are due to be issued in January.

CSGNT Appoints Head of Strategic Development
|
|
|
The Central Scotland Green Network Trust (CSGNT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Deryck Irving as its new Head of Strategic Development. Deryck replaces Sue Evans who will retire in 2018.
Deryck will formally start in post at CSGNT on the 19 March 2018, from his current role as Programme Manager at greenspace scotland.

Free Trees for Community Groups
|
|
|
Over the past two years, TCV’s I Dig Trees project has seen 400,000 trees planted across the UK and it is aiming to increase that to over half a million with a new round of free trees being made available to community groups.
Register on the TCV website to nominate your group to receive a pack of 50 trees.

Funding Deadline for Community Wildflower Projects

The deadline for applications to Grow Wild’s community project funding is approaching.
Exciting project ideas that bring people together through activities that connect their community and celebrate UK native wildflowers, plants and/or fungi can apply for £2,000 or £4,000. Applications need to be submitted by midday on 15 January 2018.

Mapping Scotland’s Raingardens

|
The Scottish Green Infrastructure Forum (SGIF) is collating information on the raingardens that currently exist across Scotland, and would like your help to further develop this resource.
SGIF is mapping the locations and types of raingardens on an interactive map that is viewable on the SGIF website.

Celebrating Scotland’s Finest Woods
|
|
|
Applications have opened for Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards, an annual opportunity to reward and showcase the contribution of our woods and forests across Scotland.
The winners will be honoured at an annual awards presentation at the Royal Highland Show in June. Applications are now open for 2018, with almost £7,000 of prize money to be won.

Bowling Harbour Linear Park Gets Green light
|
|
|
Plans to transform the 120-year-old disused railway bridge at Bowling Harbour in West Dunbartonshire into a fully accessible linear park and pathway has taken a further step forward with planning consent now granted. The ambitious plans will create a new linear park inspired by New York City’s High Line at the western gateway to the Forth & Clyde Canal.
The masterplan for the area was shaped by the award-winning Bowling Basin Charrette – a collaborative design programme which saw the local community work with other stakeholders, agencies and industry experts to develop a shared plan for its future.
