Dear Friends,
This year, I cut way back on art and craft shows and got more involved in colored pencil drawing, needle felting, spinning yarn, and teaching graphite pencil and acrylic painting.
In September, I fell in love with the town of Black Mountain, NC while in search of a yarn shop. The moment I entered the town, I knew I was home – so I bought myself a three-story, three-bedroom log cabin on the mountain. Hence, the picture above. The house is on a wooded lot with 8 acres of woods around it - and it’s only a few minutes from downtown and I-40. The prior owners built and then loved the house for 30 years. Its a real treasure.
Black Mountain is a mid-size, high-end, artsy tourist town with lots of cool shops, restaurants, pubs, and nearby lakes. It’s located 20 minutes NE of Asheville, NC; the median age is 50 years; and, there are lots of art opportunities and plenty of interesting residents.
The cats and I arrive on January 11 (please update your address book). My boat and kayaks are already there. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet and the neighbors are amazing (including the black bears, turkey, deer and coyotes).
Once the studio is finished and I'm established, I plan to teach and host workshops.
