Welcome to the December edition of the Mm2 Newsletter.  We have lots to tell you about!

How many creatures live on your shore?

The summer holidays are coming up ... it's a great time to go down to your local shore and carry out an MM2 survey.

Login to the Mm2 website and download a survey sheet

Keep safe!

When you are on the shore, always be aware of what the sea is doing so you don't get caught out by incoming tides or big waves, and keep an eye on your children at all times.

New Mm2 mobile app

We've developed a mobile app so you can look up animals and plants and enter information about what you find in your metre square whilst you are on the shore!

Go to www.mm2.net.nz/mobile/ to download the app.

It is still in test phase, so let us know how you get on.

The Collins Field Guide to the NZ Seashore

Check out this brand new guide - it is full of wonderful photographs and information about the habitat and behaviour of New Zealand's intertidal plants and animals.

The Collins Field Guide to the NZ Seashore not only assists with identification of more than 350 species living in the intertidal zones, but explains how these animals survive.  From snails and sea stars, to bivalves and brachiopods, each has its own section in the book, making it easy to use.

It's in all good bookshops now, and would make a great Christmas present!

Win a book!

The Mm2 project has been underway for almost 5 years and we are keen to learn more about the people that have or have not engaged with the project.  Please help us by completing a survey, and you can choose to go into a draw to win a copy of the Colins Field Guide to the NZ Seashore!  The survey will take less than 5 minutes to complete and we would value feedback from all.
Take the survey and enter the draw!
