2017 Accomplishments and 2018 Look-Ahead
Key 2017 Accomplishments:
Accessible youth and adult capoeira programs both on-site and off-site to people of all ages and abilities
Enriching the lives of 22,000 individuals through free Capoeira performances in schools, neighborhoods, and outdoor festivals.
Strengthening the regional Brazilian community and promoting appreciation for Brazilian culture, i.e. Team Brazil’s participation in the Philadelphia International Unity Cup Soccer Tournament
Organizing the 4th Brazilian Day Philadelphia Series including a festival, batizado, 2nd Brazilian flag raising, capoeira and dance seminars, and outdoor performances
Our Goals: Project Capoeira's milestones are large for the small nonprofit that we are. Our future goals:
Continue to leverage capoeira as a pathway for the public to experience the rich variety of the Brazilian culture
Promote Brazil's traditional customs and its cultural influences with the Brazilian Day Philadelphia Series
Encourage pride in the roots of Philadelphia’s immigrant and minority communities and provide services for the Brazilian community
Explore more options for purchasing a building to house Project Capoeira
