Our Vision Statement

We are a global sisterhood that connects women though circles. We create safe spaces to share our true selves. Meeting in circle, we find our voices, claim our power, and celebrate our self-worth, leading to personal and planetary transformation.
Dear <<First Name>>,

A new year is always auspicious. It’s an opportunity to decide what we really want in our lives for the next 365 days. Maybe this is the year you take those voice lessons, go on an extended vacation, or reach out to a new circle of friends. Many of us recommit to eating healthy foods and taking good care of our bodies. 2018 is an election year and you might want to focus some of your energy on supporting candidates. It might also be a time to deepen spiritual connections. It’s a great time for brainstorming!

Given what we’ve seen happening with the “Me, too” revelations, I believe we can expect women to continue to come forward with their stories. There is a sense in the air of “We’ve had enough and we aren’t going to take it any more!” Last January the first Women’s March occurred in Sacramento, throughout the nation, and around the world. On January 20, 2018 there will be another March. While Gather the Women as an organization will not be participating, many of our sisters, as individuals, will be doing just that.  Go here for more information.

The signs in this photo (to the right) project what Gather the Women is about:  Meeting in circle, we find our voices, claim our power, and celebrate our self-worth leading to personal and planetary transformation.

Gather the Women is also about creating safe spaces, a place where a woman can feel free to be herself without judgment. In the midst of the chaos of our world, I highly recommend that you attend one of our ongoing circles below. Every time I go to a circle, whatever the topic, I walk away renewed and revitalized and I am deeply aware that I am/and have been loved beyond measure.

May 2018 be the year of your dreams,
Judith Hurley Prosser

Monthly Circles

Gather the Women Nevada County is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. As part of our business practice we are asking that each woman who attends a circle sign our Liability Waiver & Release Form.  If you go to multiple circles, you only need to sign one form.  There may be special waivers for those circles held in commercial locations instead of private homes. Thank you for supporting us in this process.

In consideration of others, we request that women honor the No Scent Zone at our circles and events.

Transforming the limited body into the limitless self.
This beautiful ancient Native empowerment ceremony for women takes place monthly, during the full moon. If you yearn for a deeper bond with your sacred feminine spirit, and have an affinity for the sacred nature of water, this ceremony will offer you an experience with the Sacred Feminine. Any woman who has begun, is in the middle of, or completed her menses is welcome to attend.

Women, please wear a long skirt (I have extra).  Bring a snack or dish to share after. There is a suggested donation of $10 to support the New Dream Foundation & GTW. Bring drums, rattles and other instruments for the ceremony. We will be outside, so dress appropriately for the weather. Come share this beautiful ceremony and snacks even if you cannot share a donation at this time. RSVP as space is limited; if you RSVP and cannot come, please cancel in advance.

We continue in our quest for what is the best way for GTWNC to offer leadership in the community. Possibilities we are considering are providing a circle leader training and putting together a one day event with other women’s organizations offering rituals for our stations in life, e..g. maiden, mother, crone or the womb blessings.

If you have ideas for circles or events, or an interest in being on the Steering Wheel, please contact Judith.

The work is particularly effective for those dealing with cancer now or in the past, dealing with cancer (or death from cancer) of a loved one, or working with caregiving cancer patients. Contact: Ariann,
 928-284-5738 or email ariann@newdreamfoundation.com

The Prosperity Circle is coming into its own as a master-mind group.  At each gathering we use the Heart Triad Process to focus on our highest intention. We then request and receive support from the other members of the circle. Throughout the month each of the members sets aside time to envision what the others have requested. Money is showing up in the mail. Job opportunities are appearing. Projects are being completed.  This process is working. We would love for you to join us.

Sounding for Self-Care & World Peace

Third Thursdays
Thurs, Jan 18th, 7:00-8:30 pm
Contact: Hilary Brumley,
hilary.brumley@gmail.com or
408-203-9666

In this circle we will explore the healing, transformative, and creative power of self-created vocal sounds called “toning”. We will experience harmonic resonance and heart coherence, bringing balance and clarity, enabling us to be the best expressions of ourselves. We will learn about the sacred vowel sounds and their correspondence to the chakras and glands. We will explore basic principles of sound healing. We will explore silence and harmonic overtones, creating sacred space and sending intentions for the highest good and harmony of all.

“tone”...expresses his whole organization of body, soul, and spirit
as a revelation to the outside as well as to the inside.
The vowel element is the sound playing on this musical instrument.
     When producing vowel sounds,
we actually push what lives in the soul out through the body.

                                                                           ~ Rudolph Steiner

Come let your unique voice enrich the diverse harmonic symphony of the universe!

The GTW Women Studies Book Circle is voting on the books we want to read in 2018.

Drumming Circle

4th Tuesday
Tues., Jan. 23, 6:00 – 8:30 pm

Contact: Judith, judith4u@att.net

Our new 6 pm start time is to accommodate our having a potluck. Bring your favorite dish and enjoy the good food and each other.

Our drumming circle has been deepening the impact of the drumming itself by choosing to focus each separate drumming with an intention, and then sitting in silence at the close of each drumming sequence. Come join us as the beat of the drums reflects the beat of our hearts and we become one in sound and harmony.

Please mark the 4th Tuesday of the month for future drumming dates.

Repairing the Narrative. Occupying Jesus. Restoring Mary Magdalene This is a study of relatively recently discovered and translated, early Christian texts.  In particular, studies of the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, lost for centuries, reveal the true legacy of Jesus and Mary, and provide the wholeness and equality missing from the traditional narrative. Perhaps more of the world is ready now, for the full story and the progressive vision for humanity that it represents.

Thanks to the latest translations, the Son of Man now becomes the Child of True Humanity. Readings from The Meaning of Mary Magdalene: Discovering the Woman at the Heart of Christianity by Cynthia Bourgeault; also The Gospel of Mary of Magdala by Karen L. King & other works will be provided. Jean-Yves LeLoup's book, The Gospel of Mary Magdalene will be discussed. All faiths and worldviews welcome.

How Are You Rising?

Please send Ixchel your photos and stories about what you are doing whether it be a march for political or charitable causes, an action group, assisting community organizations like DVSAC , Good Women International, Hospitality House, etc. Input from women of diverse views is encouraged.

Contributions will be posted on our website, www.gatherthewomennc.org and occasionally here in the newsletter.

Circle Contributions & Updates

Above it was noted that there is a request for $5.00 to be contributed to GTW when attending a circle. The purpose of that is to help with funding for the ongoing outreach of Gather the Women of Nevada County, including films, presentations, and special events.

Many of you are attending more than one circle. Some circles meet more frequently than others. Our request is just that each person give as she is able to joyfully contribute without creating a hardship for herself. No one will ever be denied participation in a Gather the Women of Nevada County event because of lack of funds.

In consideration of others, we request that women honor the No Scent Zone at our circles and events. GTW is not liable or responsible for the content or qualifications of the materials or presenters of the programs listed.

“Listening, witnessing, role modeling, reacting, deepening, mirroring, laughing, crying, grieving, drawing upon experience, women in circles support each other and discover themselves, through talk.”
- Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, The Millionth Circle.
