2017 was a banner year for the iBIO Institute and our STEM based programming.

The iBIO Institute’s STEM based programs, StellarGirls after-school program and STEMGirls Summer Camp for girls focus on addressing the gender gap in STEM professions by targeting grades 3-8, a critical time to maintain girls’ interest and develop their self-efficacy in STEM.
Thanks to generous donations and grants from our community members like Astellas USA Foundation, Abbott, ADM, Horizon Pharma, Lundbeck, and VWR our STEM programming has reached over 1,800 girls, providing them with hands-on STEM activities and real world connections to STEM based careers.

We have exciting plans for 2018 and beyond for these programs. We are looking at models that will allow us to expand the StellarGirls programs beyond Metro-Chicago. Our goal for STEMGirls Camp is to add a third camp site on the West Side of Chicago

We need your help to expand these great programs. With 70% of STEM Girls Camp and StellarGirls participants on lunch assistive programs, we only charge a nominal fee for participation. At a cost of $465/girl it is through the goodwill of our supporters that we are able to provide this critical programming.

During this season of giving, I hope that you will consider supporting our programs. A gift of any size will help us continue to expand our programming and increase girls’ excitement in STEM.
