Happy Holidays!

It's hard to believe that the year is drawing to a close and that the next is upon us, already, again. 2017 was a a whirlwind - moving between many times and places.  I'm thrilled that Stand Up Dance is heading into 2018 with several big projects moving forward.

Hyper Local Super Now

With the year days away from over, Stand Up Dance has received some good news; I am finishing off the working year here in Barcelona developing Dream Another Day, editing dance like no one is watching video shot last summer and soaking in the sun before heading back to Canada ready to delve deeply into dance for a better world in 2018!

The Love Project has been invited to perform at the BC ArtStarts Showcase in the new year in preparation for touring through schools across British Columbia. After three years of touring The Love Project in Ontario, reaching thousands of students, Stand Up Dance is thrilled to be bringing this work to new audiences.

Here, in Barcelona, I have been writing, dancing, teaching, performing, editing and walking barefoot on the beach trying to catch up to myself! All of that time and place change really scrambles some of the internal sensors. Walking on the beach is the best way I know to come back to myself.

Here's a peek at some of the video from other sunny days.

Brussels

I met with the woman behind #WeToo, who interviewed a multitude of female dancers and wrote an article about sexism in the contemporary dance scene.
I had amazing conversations with people across our sector from myriad countries about #MeToo while attending the IETM.

Amsterdam

I skipped the pancakes, baked a cake and saw a Balinese/European classical opera.
