Dear friends and fellow alumni,

A new year is already knocking on our doors and the old one is ending in a few days. The most beautiful and festive time of the year is coming – spending time with family and bellowed ones, shifting down a gear from daily business, reflecting on what happened in 2017 and forging plans for 2018.
We have started to work on our leading topic for next year – life-long learning and we are excited to offer you the first event of a hopefully long-running series in March.
This year we honored 65 years of AIESEC in Austria and 30 years of AIESEC Alumni Austria. But in 2018 we will have another major jubilee – AIESEC is turning 70 – and this deserves a proper celebration!
On this festive note – we wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Let 2018 be peaceful, healthy and successful for all of us!
And we hope to see you very soon – at the WU Ball on January 13th 2018 at the Imperial Hofburg Palace.

AIESECly,
Jordan (President), Caroline (VP Finance) and Andie (VP Events)

AAA @ WU Ball 2018

Dear AIESEC Community,

the cultural highlight of the year, the visit at the WU Ball at the Imperial Palace, is coming closer! After the end of the early bird we have already over 40 registrations. So for January we expect many more guests at the upcoming Ball and this time also quite some alumni from abroad.

Even if you can’t join the Ball you can meet up with alumni and students e.g. at one of the lunches or dinner. Here is an overview of the registrations so far:
  • Ball: AIESEC alumni & students from AT, DE, IT, CH, BE, GR, PL: 43 people
  • Sightseeing with focus on music – recommended for all Ball guests: 6 people (minimum of 12 necessary)
  • Dancing course with preparation for midnight Quadrille:15 people
  • Dinner and lunches: 10-15 people each

You still have the chance to secure tickets for that weekend, maybe you want to get yourself a christmas present? We are glad to announce that this year we will be seated in the festive Zeremoniensaal where you can enjoy a Live band and show acts! So check out the info and registration here:

ALUMnite March 2018

On 1st of March 2018 there will be a ALUMnite in Vienna. Save the date!
More information will follow soon.

Christmas ALUMnite

On December 13th dozen alumni and friends gathered at the Christmas market at Museumsquartier for this year’s Christmas AlumNite. The exchange of thoughts about how this year was and plans for the next was fueled by a couple (or more) cups of mulled vine and Christmas punch. After the outside temperature started to approach the freezing point, the group relocated to the warm and cozy rooftop bar of the hotel 25hours and continued the discussions about life, universe and everything.

The next AlumnNite will be on March 1st 2018, so save the date and stay tuned for further details!

LC Salzburg Visit Report

Alumnus Chrys Taslis holds workshop to support set-up of AIESEC LC Salzburg

On Thursday the 14th of December I had the honour and pleasure to deliver a 2-hour workshop to LC Salzburg. The CEEDer Esmeralda from Padova (Italy) kindly invited me to present the Training and Development part of the business world, so that students know how to prepare for it. The goal was to foster personal development and a life-long-learning attitude, in line with this year's theme of AAA (Life-long-learning as well as UN SDG Quality Education). It was the first event for this LC this year, so it was even more important to set the positive example!

Clemence and her OC girls had prepared a welcoming room next to the AIESEC office at the University of Salzburg, including snacks and juice. There were several engaged participants, interestingly almost all of them ladies. We spoke about the goals and benefits of a thorough T&D strategy, how it can be implemented and nurtured, not only in the business setting, but also outside. We can (and should) take responsibility of our own development and pursue life-long-learning with methods like self-discovery, book-reading, coaching, mentoring, keeping a learning log/journal and public speaking practice. Especially for the latter, we examined how to overcome its fear and the aspects of a successful speaker/speech. We then practiced extensively in small groups.
In a second activity, participants took time to write a letter to themselves about their own personal development plans, how they want to pursue them when they enter the corporate world. I asked them to seal it and open it when they start their first job.

Thank you LC Salzburg for this opportunity, looking forward to seeing you grow!

Have a good time and I am looking forward to update you again soon!

Kind regards,

Lieva
P.S.: And if you belong to the special breed of people who just want the most important in the most concise form – head over to events 2018, and mark everything of interest to you in your calendar (and - of course - show up :-) )
