Enjoying the Ride:
Mid Atlantic Equitation Festival with Jack of Hearts

My love of thoroughbreds far transcends my own and recently I got to spend a weekend and ride at a show [Mid Atlantic Equitation Festival] with one I had never met before.After a difficult month spent studying for hours on end, to say my Thanksgiving break started in the best way possible would be an understatement.

Jack of Hearts is his Jockey Club name, and Clifford, the big red horse is what he goes by.  We officially met on Saturday morning at 5:30 am in the darkness and while the sun was rising we got acquainted.  By early afternoon we completed 2 trips around the indoor of the Prince George's Equestrian Center.  Were they perfect trips?  No.  Did we make some mistakes?  Yes, but we put down two decent, respectful rounds for a green horse who had never jumped 2' 9 before, and for me, who hadn't jumped that height for 4 months and had never ridden him prior to now.  And, we had fun doing it, which is the most important part; learning and enjoying the ride....

The T.I.P. Performance Awards are the annual, self-reported Thoroughbred awards of The Jockey Club Thoroughbred Incentive Program. All 2017 results must be submitted by December 20, 2017.

I trail ride my Thoroughbred - can I participate in T.I.P.?
 
YES! The Thoroughbred Recreational Riding Incentive Program (TRRIP) is designed to recognize and reward Thoroughbred owners and riders that enjoy recreational riding or driving on a regular basis! Prizes begin at 25 hours and include patches, hats, keychains, bags and more!

Did you know? Microchips are a requirement of registration for Thoroughbred foals of 2017 and later. 

You can also purchase chips for your registered Thoroughbreds from The Jockey Club for $15 each (plus tax in New York and Kentucky). AND Reporting of the microchip number for Thoroughbreds to The Jockey Club is included with the cost of the microchip. If you wish to pay by check, use the Order Form below.
