Welcome to our December newsletter
Well, here we are at the end of another year and what a year it has been here at Harbeth.
In case you hadn't heard (and how could you not?!), this year we celebrated our incredible 40th anniversary in style with the release of limited edition models. Not only that, we celebrated our most successful year to date.
We're delighted to have been able to bring so much joy to Harbeth owners and we thank them all for their passion for our speakers. Some of you have been kind enough to share your stories and setups with us in our monthly feature, In your words. We look forward to sharing more of these in 2018.

Review of the year
Launch of SHL5plus & M40.2 40th anniversary models
The year began with the launch of the first of our 40th anniversary models; the SHL5plus and M40.2 in walnut. One of the things that made these limited edition models so special was the beautiful added features; the latest WBT-nextgen binding posts, a new-look super tweeter with protection bar on the SHL5plus, British-made audio grade poly capacitors, limited edition front and back badges, and a new premium metallic black and gold anniversary grille badge.

SHL5plus anniversary model on matching walnut stand from Hi-Fi Racks
Our friends at Hi-Fi Racks, who celebrated their 10th anniversary this year, also created a stunning matching walnut stand, which made its debut alongside our SHL5plus anniversary model at the Bristol Sound & Vision show in February. This model was also on demo at High End Munich, where it was awarded 'Best Sound' by High Fidelity magazine.

In April, we were delighted to hear from our American distributor, Fidelis AV, that world renowned producer, Rick Rubin, was a Harbeth fan.
Rick, who has worked with a wide variety of artists including the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Beastie Boys, Johnny Cash, and Adele said - "Nothing beats Harbeth speakers for listening to acoustic sounds. They are more like refined musical instruments than loudspeakers."
M30.2 40th anniversary model launches at High End Munich
Our anniversary year continued with the second release of limited edition products; the M30.2 and M40.2 in an exquisite silver eucalyptus veneer. Making its debut at the High End Munich show, this model was also on demo at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest this year where it was called "utterly captivating" by Part-Time Audiophile, and was this month described as
"a music lover's speaker" by Steve Guttenberg in his review.
"Where some high-end speakers can come across as sterile and overemphasize detail and resolution, that's not the case here. The M30.2s sound like a portal back to the session. It's a sound you'll want to savor."

Exclusive in-store event at Hi-Fi Corner
In June, we hosted an exclusive in-store event with our Scottish distributor Hi-Fi Corner in Edinburgh, where Alan demoed the SHL5plus anniversary model and discussed speaker design and music with enthusiastic Harbeth fans.

This was a successful evening enjoyed by all - "An informative evening presented by Alan Shaw. Nothing but positive feedback from all who attended. Offered a unique insight into the history and development of Harbeth with knowledge and laughs shared by all. Alan was the perfect speaker and we can't wait to see what the future of Harbeth will bring us next." - the Hi-Fi Corner team.
Launch of 'Summer of Sound' competition
with Brussels based winner announced in November
During the summer we launched our 'Summer of Sound' competition, where we asked talented music-makers aged 16-24 to submit an original piece of music that showcased a wide dynamic range and included some use of interesting and unusual sounds.
The winner was selected last month and a pair of SHL5plus speakers awarded to Luc Coene from Brussels. A big congratulations again Luc!

Spitfire Audio tour Harbeth
In November we were pleased to welcome composer, Christian Henson of Spitfire Audio to Harbeth. An owner of three pairs of Harbeths, Christian was delighted to tour our production area, where he witnessed what goes into crafting our speakers and our very special 40th anniversary products.

A big thank you to our distributors and dealers worldwide who have helped to make this year our most successful yet. Harbeth has been seen and heard at a multitude of hi-fi shows and
in-store dealer organised events.
Thanks must also go to our Harbeth owners, fans and enthusiasts who give us all pride to develop 'the world's best-loved loudspeakers'.
A look ahead
to 2018
So, after such a busy and eventful 2017 you may be wondering what's next here at Harbeth? Well we're delighted to tell you that the third release of limited edition anniversary products will be available in January; the P3ESR and M40.2 in olive wood.
 In February we will once again be exhibiting at the Bristol Sound & Vision show, where visitors will have the chance to see and hear the P3ESR anniversary model.
We will also be launching an exciting new live music project in collaboration with Duet Media Technologies called Harbeth Live.
We are now closed until Tuesday 2nd January.
