Dear Friends,

Thank you to those who were able to make it to our Open House/Give to the Max Day event last month.  We loved meeting you and answering your questions about Ruth's House!  Through donations given that night and online, we raised about $1400!

Read on to learn about an exciting opportunity for volunteers and Ruth's House residents, current and past, to sing with the St. Olaf Manitou Singers during a chapel service.

Our Christmas wish this year is for safe shelter for every woman, man, and child.  From everyone at Ruth's House, Merry Christmas and may you have a blessed Holiday season!
Come Sing with Us

You are invited to sing with the St. Olaf Manitou Singers and join their performance during a chapel service at Boe Chapel on campus on Sunday,  February 11th.  Women high school age and up, volunteers and supporters of Ruth's House, as well as current and former residents are invited!  No previous singing experience required.

The first rehearsal is in January.  To find out more details, please reply to this email

Volunteer Spotlight
Samantha Lane is our volunteer spotlight this month.  This lady is talented!  She helped organize our Open House last month (even making decorations and hand sewing our tour guide badges) and has jumped right in on the Gala Committee.  Samantha's caring personality shines and she has a heart for our mission.  We are so glad that she is part of the amazing Ruth's House volunteer team!

Samantha writes:  I grew up in Houlton, Wisconsin with my mother, father, sister and brother. I moved around a bit from middle school to high school but ended up with my mother, step father, and brother in St Croix Falls, Wisconsin. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in Psychology and also studied Women’s and Gender Studies.

After college I worked at a women’s shelter in Wisconsin for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. I took some time off from pursuing further schooling to care for my grandmother who had Alzheimer’s disease. I have lived in Dundas, Minnesota for a couple of years now and life is always busy with my husband Samuel, dog Macadamia, and cats Peanut and Pistachio.

I began volunteering for Ruth’s because I felt the need to contribute in the area to helping survivors of domestic violence.  Ruth’s House does amazing things for women in the area and I hope to continue to help in any way possible.
