Canadian Migration Monitoring Network
National Meeting

August 16-19, 2018

Save the Date!

Every two years, representatives from the Canadian Migration Monitoring Network (CMMN) gather to discuss our successes, challenges, and to identify network priorities. So we are excited to announce that our next National Meeting will be held in Victoria,  British Columbia in August 16-19, 2018.

Rocky Point Bird Observatory (RPBO) will be hosting the meeting at the Pearson College of the Pacific on beautiful Pedder Bay, within walking distance of one of their RPBO banding locations. Plan your arrival for the evening of August 16, with sessions to be held on August 17 and 18, and optional field trips before departure on Sunday, August 19.  And of course there will be time for some BC island birding between meeting sessions. Dorm style accommodation will be available on campus with alternative accommodation available in the community.

These specific dates were also selected to tie in with the International Ornithological Congress (IOC2018) as well as the Vancouver International Bird Festival taking place in Vancouver BC from Aug 19-26, 2018 for anyone that wants to add these events to your trip out west.

We would like to thank Ann Nightingale with RPBO for helping to coordinate this event with our Steering Committee members.  Our network depends on the active participation of our members and we are hoping you can attend. We are aware that these dates fall in the operating season of some stations, so we are sending this advance notice to help those stations start planning their upcoming summer so that they may be able to attend.

Please mark the date in your calendars and stay tuned for more information to follow in early 2018.

Stay connected to the CMMN!

We would like to encourage you to become a more active member of your network! Whether it's posting a  Migration season summary, sharing an interesting species observation, or showing a new technique that you use...there are many ways to be more engaged with your network. We would love to hear from you!
