Dear Friends of PTB Farm,

The long dark nights of winter are perfect for feasting. The short days pass by so quickly and the unfriendly weather pushes us indoors. The warmth of a roast in the oven, friends and family visiting from near and far, lighting a tree or candles in the house, it's all to make these long cold dark nights more bearable.

As you begin to make your plans for holiday meals and gifts, keep us and the market community in mind! We have really beautiful leg of lamb and lovely little boneless ham roasts, which are both perfect Christmas dinner roasts.  We've done both in past years, and neither will disappoint! This genius kitchen recipe, is the most simple and elegant recipe for a leg of lamb, and its the one I've done and liked, but epiciurious and the NYTimes both have interesting and delicious-sounding recipes as well. As for a boneless ham roast, this can be a lovely and festive roast. The hams we have are boneless, lean, and perfect for roasting and glazing and slicing for that classic holiday meal with mashed potatoes and greens. Most recipes for fresh ham call for a bone-in and skin-on ham, which is a whole different beast, instead look for recipes like this one for a loin roast, because these little roasts are as lean and delicious as the boneless loin. For added succulence, try brine-ing the roast beforehand. Also, remember to stock up on sausage for those long lavish breakfasts that lazily become brunch during the holidays. And finally, if you're like me and want to express your love for those important people in your life, but you're kind of a bad gifter, consider the gift of giving!  This year, the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market is offering honor cards. With your donation of $10 toward the food security programs at the market in honor of those important people in your life you will get a beautiful card to give. All the money goes towards the markets' orange card program, which helps folks in our own community afford healthy fresh local food.  More information about the honor cards available at the market.

We look forward to seeing your smiling faces at the farmers market in the coming weeks. We are planning on attending the Greensboro Curb Farmers Market every Saturday through the end of the year (12/16, 12/23, 12/30). We are planning on taking a few Saturdays off the beginning of the year, but will start back at the market in mid January.

Happy Holidays from your farmers,
Hillary and Worth
Bea, Cassius, and Tazi the dogs
