SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, February 8, 2018 - Gifted Education Day in Olympia
Gifted Ed Day is a designated day for families and their students to advocate for Highly Capable services in Olympia. It is an excellent opportunity to:
- meet our legislators
- observe government at work
- connect with Hi Cap families from neighboring districts
- understand the issues that impact Highly Capable services in our state today
Last year, we toured the Capitol Building and we plan on doing the same this year. If you are interested in joining us for a scheduled private tour, please let us know at shoreline.hicap.advocacy@gmail.com. Our goal is to bring together at least 25 Shoreline families to participate in Gifted Ed festivities and to encourage families to carpool. This will be an excused absence for your student(s). More details will follow but mark your calendars now. And let your teachers know, too! They may just want to join as well.
Gifted Ed Day is sponsored by the Northwest Gifted Child Association (NWGCA); Washington Association of Educators of the Talented and Gifted (WAETAG); and the Washington Coalition for Gifted Education (WCGE).

SAVE THE DATE: Wednesday, April 11, 2018 will be the date of our next community meeting at the Shoreline Center, in partnership with the Shoreline Special Needs P.T.S.A. As parents, we see our kids dealing with traits such as perfectionism and overexcitabilities, or perhaps managing what it means to be "twice-exceptional" or functioning with asynchronous development. How can we help our kids cope in this intense world and to manage any feelings of stress/anxiety? We will have an exciting panel of guest speakers from our district and our community to address these questions and more! Additional info will follow. This event will be free and open to all.
