S3 Newsletter #4/2017

December 2017

Dear Friend,

Looking back at the introduction of last year’s December S3 Newsletter, we highlighted two very opposite features:

  • On the one hand, the (geo)political turbulences that were so much omnipresent at that time.
  • On the other hand, the closure of a quite positive year (2016) for our company.

It is therefore quite remarkable that, in today’s world characterized by plenty of changes (this seems to be the only ‘constant’ that the so-called ‘observers’ seem to agree on), in essence both these features haven’t really changed at all:
  • The world seems to be as turbulent as ever before (or even more, as the pessimists would say).
  • Thanks to our customers and, above all, the hard and dedicated work of the S3 team, the company’s results for the year 2017 have again been ‘quite nice’ (let’s not overstate things…).

Therefore it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we have, once more, prepared a Newsletter with plenty of news, hoping you will find it all interesting: new sourcing customers, new teaching assignments, some information on advertising in China and a new team member in China.  Voilà, le résumé! :-)

Wishing you all a wonderful Holiday Season and a great 2018, we are looking forward to your news
.

Warm regards from Barcelona
,

Seminar at the ICIL Foundation and interviews on VRT Radio

Halfway between a teaching assignment (see ‘Strategic Sourcing SOLUTIONS’) and the divulgation of our know-how about sourcing activities, we were recently asked to offer a monothematic seminar on ‘Global Sourcing / International Purchasing’.

We were also interviewed live (twice!) on Flemish National Radio, to give our opinion on the impact on companies and the economy in general of the current complex political situation in Catalonia.

Sourcing: new customers, orders, projects and quality inspections

Lots of novelties in the sourcing section: we'll report on fuses for solar energy, materials for a Latin American NGO, an innovative project with 3D printing and a new quality control assignment.

More teaching activity: TBS, IESIDE, OBS, BEBS, etc.

Lots of news in terms of management teaching initiatives at universities and business schools, including a 100% new collaboration with an institution that recently started its activities in Barcelona.

Institutional support for wine exports to China

Upon several readers' request, we will inform you about one of the initiatives taken by ICEX in order to give support to Spanish wineries trying to export to China.

New team member in Shanghai

We will report on the new team member in China, as well as about the new intern at our Barcelona office.

How not to advertise in China

Some basic info on which government guidelines to follow, as not to publish messages and slogans that can get you in trouble with current legislation.

Something entirely different...

We finish this quarter's Newsletter with a most interesting news item on those topics that were most commented on by members of the LinkedIn professional social network.

Wanna read again the Newsletter we sent out three months ago?

Thought about that news item we published and that you wanted to share with a colleague?
Can't remember that picture you saw and wanted to show to your friend?
Or... simply can't get enough of it and want to read again what we published some time ago?
We know the feeling: just click on the image next to this text and... off you go!
