We would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year from all of us at Southwold Sailing Club.
We would like to invite you to join us on New Years day at the clubhouse from 13:00hrs to celebrate the beginning of a very exciting year at SSC. There will of course be an open bar and a lovely log fire so feel free to bring some nibbles to share. We really hope to to see you there!
Here are some highlights of 2017 to look back on and to remind ourselves of the exciting times to be had in 2018!
Training Session

White Hart for tea All the sailors battled against a head wind finally arriving at Blythburgh and keen to get to the pub for tea/beverage of some type.
They enjoyed a lively downwind sail home racing to beat the huge squall that was approaching which later caused havock amongst the sailors.
Javelin Open
We held a Javelin open which was well attended, beautiful weather with perhaps slightly less wind than prefered. We hope for a good turn out in 2018!
Sunday Fundays
We started Sunday Fundays to bring back general sailing, we managed to get many sailors out to sea and sailing off the beach which was a breath of fresh air from sailing up river!
Sunday Fundays allowed for some casual racing at sea for some of the new sailors. Many different types of boats were taking part!
Sailors even had a taste of sailing into the harbour for their first time!
August Regatta
Action packed first day of the reagatta which consisted of 3 races in the river with sailors of mixed ages and mixed abillities.

Day 2 of the regatta allowed another 3 races at sea with perfect conditions.

We had a brilliant barbecue in the garden with marquees and straw bales, Pimms, Andams bitter and lovely slads and meats.

We even challenged the Harbour Master's to a one handed cleat tying contest!

We did shore based theory sessions on wind and tide and sea state predictions. We did lots of messing around in safety boats.
We even had a special visitor who sailed in to give some of our prospective members a little present!
So here's to a great season in 2017 and may 2018 be just as fun!
