But you, Oh Lord are a shield for me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head. Psalm 3:3

Bienvenue en Guinea. I flew in on December 26th and it has been quite interesting figuring things out on my own until the rest of my team comes down. God truly gives us the grace to survive, to figure things out, to live, to trust him and to make the necessary changes to accomplish our goals. Sometimes God puts us in what we will seemingly call the worst of circumstances to get the best results out of us. As I sit here thinking about this and all the events of 2017, I have come to realize that God's plan is the best plan even when it feels like the worst, even when we truly have no understanding of what is going on, even when we are totally surprised and caught off guard, even when we have lost all hope and given up. I recently found myself thinking the thoughts of Isaac, when he asked his father Abraham, "We have the wood and the fire but where is the lamb"? and I have also had the thoughts of Abraham," Maybe God can bring my one and only son back to life if I kill him..." The truth is we can never fully have all of life figured out! We can have our goals and desires but it is up to God to bring them to fruition and completion and most importantly in His timing, not ours. With that being said I am already smiling at 2018 because I already know that it will not go according to plan (mines). It hasn't even started yet and the plans have already gone astray (laughing). We truly have a hope that is the anchor for our souls and his name is Jesus. He is our one and true constant, our firm foundation amidst a very shaky broken world. So as these last few days of 2017 begin to disappear remember who God is and allow him to do what only he is able to do in 2018.
