December 30th, 2017

But you, Oh Lord are a shield for me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head. Psalm 3:3
Bienvenue en Guinea. I flew in on December 26th and it has been quite interesting figuring things out on my own until the rest of my team comes down. God truly gives us the grace to survive, to figure things out, to live, to trust him and to make the necessary changes to accomplish our goals. Sometimes God puts us in what we will seemingly call the worst of circumstances to get the best results out of us. As I sit here thinking about this and all the events of 2017, I have come to realize that God's plan is the best plan even when it feels like the worst, even when we truly have no understanding of what is going on, even when we are totally surprised and caught off guard, even when we have lost all hope and given up. I recently found myself thinking the thoughts of Isaac, when he asked his father Abraham, "We have the wood and the fire but where is the lamb"? and I have also had the thoughts of Abraham," Maybe God can bring my one and only son back to life if I kill him..." The truth is we can never fully have all of life figured out! We can have our goals and desires but it is up to God to bring them to fruition and completion and most importantly in His timing, not ours. With that being said I am already smiling at 2018 because I already know that it will not go according to plan (mines). It hasn't even started yet and the plans have already gone astray (laughing). We truly have a hope that is the anchor for our souls and his name is Jesus. He is our one and true constant, our firm foundation amidst a very shaky broken world. So as these last few days of 2017 begin to disappear remember who God is and allow him to do what only he is able to do in 2018.

Prayer Requests and Praises
  • Thank you all so much (Saints in NEW YORK) and the individuals and assemblies that invited me to visit/speak at their church. I am truly grateful for all the encouragement, prayers and support.
  • I praise the Lord for the 3 weeks I was able to spend in Senegal. I had an extremely hard time sleeping the first week because of jet lag then it was followed by the cold, and then sinus problems because of the dust right up until it was time to leave. However, I was able to see my friends and visit with people. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I had to have a weekend ladies retreat with the girls from Femme de Promesses. I praise God for the two women we had as speakers and a young lady who attended and has recently accepted the Lord. Everyone was truly blessed by the topics and the fellowship and discussions we had. Please pray for the following Retreat in March 2018, I will not be there but I entrusted it to two of the young women from the group whom I know to be very capable. I am excited to see them move forward and I am trusting the Lord to give them the courage to step out in faith and become leaders. I also praise God for the small group that started amongst some of the young women, for the increased numbers in that group and even their commitment to meet regularly.
  • Please pray for the needs of young single women.
  • Pray for my living situation in Guinea, it seems like I will not be living in the area I had originally thought of for the upcoming months of January and February. I will be in the village that I was living in earlier this year while I was in Guinea to assist a fellow missionary. However, I will be able to do language study from there.
  • Pray for my team. We have a lot of things to figure out in terms of moving forward and accomplishing our goals.
Thank you all so much for your continued love, prayer and support. May God continue to bless you and Happy New Year 2018!
