Stûv 16 - Perfect recipe for a successful fire

PREPARATION

Before starting your fire, be sure to have nearby matches, fire starters, small kindling wood and some medium to big size logs.

QUALITY INGRIDIENTS, THE KEY

To make a good fire, as with any recipe, you have to use the right ingredients.

  • Good essence of wood. We will favor a hard wood such as maple that produces beautiful flames and embers that remain long incandescent. To know the different species available, see the document HERE

  • Dry wood with a moisture content of less than 18%. To know the exact moisture content of your wood, cut the log in half and use a moisture meter take the % from its center.

PERFORMANCE

1 | 2 POSITIONING OF WOOD

Prioritize an inverted fire as shown in Figure 2. An inverted fire helps warm the firebox and effectively activates the pull of your appliance.

Place the wood so that there is a space between each log to facilitate the flow of air.
The fire needs oxygen to burn.

3 | 4 LIGTH YOUR WOOD

With a firelighter, light your wood and leave the door open about 1 ''. The small wood will consume and quickly create embers that will ignite the largest logs below. This will prevent you from opening the firebox to add wood and slow down the ignition process.

The use of paraffin-based lighter or other waxy material that may block the air supply system is prohibited.

Note that ignition time may vary due to multiple factors (high winds, low atmospheric pressure, outside temperature too hot).

EXTEND THE EXPERIENCE

Add wood according to your needs to prolong the combustion. Always use the Stûv glove to safely charge your device.

ASH BED

After your first fire, always leave a bed of ash that will facilitate lighting your next fire.
