A Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all councillors and staff at Bingley Town Council!

Here is a brief update on some of our recent activity, including seasonal information on our gritting initiative and of course the new Christmas lights!

There’s a look forward to some Green and Clean events in the new year and a quick reminder to have your say in our consultation over plans for the public toilets.

Grit bins

Bingley is better prepared for cold weather, thanks to Bingley Town Council investment and collaboration with Bradford Council which has overall responsibility for gritting and grit bins.
 
In a project led by Cllr Sara Hardman, councillors mapped every grit bin in the parish to identify areas most in need of new or replacement grit bins and also pinpointed key routes used by public transport that also require gritting.
 
The results of the survey and discussions with Bradford Council have led to the replacement or repair of nine bins and provided four new bins on Oakwood Drive, Pendle Road, Timble Drive and Primrose Bank. Bingley Town Council has spent a further £400 on new bins on Belgrave Road, Bailey Hills, Falcon Road and Birchdale. In addition, Lady Lane, Crownest Road and Marley View are now included on Bradford Council’s gritting routes. The Town Council will monitor the situation over the winter.

Green and Clean Forum
 
The next Green and Clean Forum is coming up on 13th January, taking place from 10.00 to 12.00 at Cardigan House, Ferncliffe Road. All are welcome to come and listen to our speaker, Mike Cunningham, from Keighley in Bloom, and there’ll be an opportunity to discuss ideas for summer planting and share experiences with lots of like-minded people. You don’t have to be part of a group to come along; the forum is open to everyone interested in planting, green spaces and keeping Bingley beautiful.
 
Litter picks

Dates have now been finalised for our 2018 community litter picks. They are all Saturdays, and the dates are as follows:
 
10^th February (meeting at 3 Rise Locks at 10 am)
14^th April
9^th June
11^th August
13^th October
8^th December
 
We provide all equipment, and all you need to make a difference is half an hour of your time! Come and join us!

 Public toilets consultation reminder

There’s still just time for you to let us know your thoughts about the Town Council’s proposals for the public toilets.

As the toilets will be closing in March 2018, the Town Council has been exploring the possibility of developing the current toilets site in Jubilee Gardens into a single-storey building to provide a central office space for the Council and retain public toilets for Bingley.

We held public consultations on 2^nd and 17^th December and are keen for as many people as possible to complete a survey. Forms are available at Bingley Library and Cottingley Cornerstone, and you can also complete the survey online. All the information can be found in the documents section of our website and the survey is at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BTCsurveyfacebook.

The deadline for responses is 31 December.
