Census Training Workshops Offered to Local Government

The US Census Bureau Atlanta Regional Office staff is working with the NC Councils of Government to provide training workshops throughout the state for local governments on the Local Update of Census Addresses (LUCA) program. The LUCA program offers local governments the opportunity to review the US Census Bureau list of addresses for their area and verify the list. In order to prepare for the 2020 Census, an accurate address list is needed to help ensure that Census questionnaires are sent to every household in the community. Getting everyone is counted in the Census is important because representation, funding, and planning are all based on census numbers; and LUCA is a key part of getting the process right.

Although the LUCA registration deadline was December 15, local governments are encouraged to visit the US Census Bureau 2020 Census LUCA website and complete registration forms. Registrations must be signed by the Highest Elected Official. Complete registrations should be emailed to geo.2020.luca@census.gov as soon as possible. The final LUCA training session in North Carolina will be held on January 11 in Plymouth. See the North Carolina LUCA Training Schedule for details.
