2017 was a big year for community data and the data community. Statistics Canada released the results from the 2016 Census, providing the most comprehensive depiction of Canada in several years. In case you missed it, see our newsletter about the final data release.
The CDP team is looking forward to an active new year. We are progressing on a brand new look and feel for the website, that will make it more user-friendly and attractive to new members. We look forward to sharing the redesign with you all in Spring 2018
We’ve made some recent acquisitions, including Activity Limitations data at the Census Division, Census Metropolitan Area, Census Subdivision, and Census Tract geographies. We also just received the Calculated Financial Assets data for 2015.
And keep your eyes on our News updates for upcoming webinars. We expect to hold a Census followup with Statistics Canada staff in early 2018 as well as another "data party" and orientation before April. If your organization has an event or publication you’d like to share, please let Alex know. We love to see what our members are up to and we’re hoping to include more Community Snapshots on our refreshed site.
Lastly, please take note that the CDP team will be taking a pause for the holidays next week, so we might not get back to you until 2018. We wish our members a happy holiday season and a wonderful new year. We are truly grateful for the support of our members.
Sincerely,
The Community Data Program
