Arts Highlights, January 2018

New Year's Eve is a time for celebration as we turn our thoughts to the year ahead and what this might bring. We have listed a number of New Years Eve events below for easy reference. January is a time for relaxation and enjoying all that our beautiful town offers  - and, as always, this includes a range of arts activities!
  • News Years Eve Talent quest is being presented on December 31st by Rotary Club of Esperance Bay as part of the 2017 Esperance Foreshore Festival & Fireworks.
  • Esperance Public Library has a book sale coming up on January 4th and a school holiday program starting 11th January.
  • The Cannery Arts Centre is hosting the  'Evolution of the Surfboard ' until January 14th
  • Esperance Hobby Painters and  oil painter, George Sutter, have exhibitions coming up at  Esperance Community Arts Space from January 9th.
  • Festival of the Winds' Moving Movies at the soundshell program features 'The Lion King' on January 13th and 'Sing' on January 20th. 
  • The Esperance One and All Program starts Monday 8th January and includes Drumming, Chess, Brickclub and Sand Art
Esperance Community Arts Space will be closed from 12.30pm on Friday 22nd of December for the Holidays. We will re-open on Tuesday January 9th.

New Years Eve

Celebrations start at 12noon with the Rotary Club of Esperance Bay's Foreshore Festival & Fireworks
 


There is still time to register for the EFF&F talent quest! Entries are due Dec 28th.

 


The Esperance Drumming Group are going to be drumming up a storm as part of the Foreshore Festival & Fireworks event on New Years Eve.

Esperance Community Arts 


Esperance Community Arts Space (67 Dempster St) will close Friday 22nd Dec at 12.30pm, RE-OPENING Tues the 9th January  Call in and browse the work of over 40 local artists and crafters Tuesday - Friday 10am - 2pm. Esperance Hobby Painters and oil painter, George Sutter, will be exhibiting work from January 9th. 

Pick up a copy of the Songs from the Southern Edge CD  featuring 10 original songs by local artists
 

Join the Crafty Critters and share and learn new skills on Thursdays 10-12pm from January 11th. Their very playful Christmas window display, Under the Sea', at 67 Dempster St is a must see!
 


 No Lights No Lycra will be dancing weekly starting the 4th January from 7.15pm

Registrations close at 5.00pm on Monday 22 January 2018. You will be notified in mid February when your sketchbook is ready for collection.

Australia Day is held at Adventureland Park Friday January 26th 8am till 1pm Experience the work of local artists and musicians. Guest Speaker is Conrad Liveris.

For over two decades, the City of Perth has presented Opera in the Park as an annual gift to the residents and visitors of Perth, supported by Lotterywest and Healthway with the message Act-Belong-Commit. The live simulcast allows WA Opera to connect with regional communities, with the support of Lotterywest and the Community Resource Network.

Regular Arts Activities
 

Crafty Critters:  An informal craft group who meet every Thursday morning at  10am at Esperance Community Arts Space to work on individual or community projects, Morning tea included. Beginners welcome, no cost, some materials and needles/ hooks provided. Gold coin Donation.

Esperance Bay of Isles Embroidery Club: Meet on the 1st & 3rd Thursday of the Month, 9am-12noon at the Cannery Arts Centre Music Room. Contact 9071 3599 or admin@canneryartscentre.com.au for information about meeting times and days.

Esperance Brass Band: Rehearsal every Thursday night (during school terms), 7:30pm - 9:30pm. Just Dance Esperance: Latin, Ballroom and New Vogue. Beginners and dancers of all ages welcome! No partner required. $5 per person.  Latin dance styles every Monday from 7pm-8.45pm, RAOB Hall (behind the Bijou Theatre on Dempster Street).
