Seasonal Round-up
Thank you to everybody for your custom and support in 2017, this year has certainly been character building!  As many of you are aware 2017 got off to a testing start so we were all delighted to get out Eventing in April after the news of strangles in March. The relatively quick return to competition was entirely down to the dedication and hard work of the team at Stockley Farm, who did an amazing job on the yard.
The season was ticking along nicely, with Lorna Soame’s Andreas picking up two placings at both his runs, including a second at Aston Le Walls in May and qualification for the Gatcombe Intermediate championships in August in the process. Sadly Andreas sustained an injury following his run at Aston Le Walls and although it was only minor it still required a significant period of rest and rehabilitation which wiped out the rest of his eventing season.
Due to Helen's mothers poor health the decision was made to reduce the number of horses on the yard earlier in the year and we said a sad goodbye to Lorna Soames's Zaldaltus and Helen's homebred horse Ritson's Opnion. Both horses managed to squeeze in several events before they left, resulting in placings for both and a successful step up to Novice for Zaldaltus.
Helen's own five year old horse, Happy Dayz, has really lived up to his name - his workmanlike approach and huge enthusiasm for life always helps lift spirits. Helen has also campaigned Charles Phillips PLS Ballinagore (Harley) this year, another real crowd pleaser, and you can't fail but have a cracking day out with lots of laughs with owner, Charles.
Four year old Rocky, banked a very respectable showing at the Hartpury Four Year Old Young Event Horse qualifier, especially given his low mileage during the season. He is a big horse with bags of promise, so there is no rush with him.
Confetti is now a Mum of three, giving birth to her third foal, named Olive in May, who is by the stallion Foxcourt Andante.  Many thanks to Sharon Hockey and the other livery owners at Willowbrook Farm where Olive was born and has been kept, whose help has been invaluable with handling her and helping to teach her some manners!  She is yet to have a proper registered name for when she hopefully competes one day and we are struggling to think of one.... therefore any suggestions greatly received and a prize on offer should we use a name suggested!
With the 2017 eventing season over, the horses have now finished their winter holidays and are all back in work. We are looking forward to the 2018 season and the fun times ahead!
Staff News and Successes
Stockley Farm PA, Kerry Emms, qualified for the Grassroots Championships at Badminton again this year, this time to contest the BE100 Championship. Another fantastic performance left Kerry and her self-produced horse, Spiders Secret Weapon in 7th place. Kerry is hoping to move up to Novice in 2018.

Stockley Farm groom, Ursie Mackinder, has taken over the ride on ex 4 star and Irish eventing team horse ‘Sugar Brown Babe’.  Babe was retired from eventing earlier this year by her owner and has been loaned to Helen as a broodmare.  As Ursie’s current horse Millionaire is currently off work due to injury Ursie has jumped at the opportunity of competing Babe at dressage until she is put in foal next May.

Success for Stockley Farm Clients
St Mary’s girls who are based at Stockley Farm or who train here have had a very successful 2017. Lily Ryder and her pony Dartan’s Blackberry contested the BE90 Grassroots Championship at Badminton this year and has also picked up a qualifying place for the 2018 Championships.
Flo de Selliers and Natalia de Putron have picked up some very good results at recent NSEA competitions. This is very exciting for 2018 as they both have been getting to know their new four-legged partners. Flo was also part of the St Mary’s team that qualified for the 90/95 JwS NSEA Championships and it was great to see Flo on the winning 1metre team at the recent Dauntsey School Showjumping competition.  Natalia had a great start to her competitive career with new ride ‘Sparky’ being placed at the Stonar Schools One Day event as an individual and as part of a St Mary’s school team

Iris Nicholson has enjoyed lots of success with her pony Roscoe and has now competed  at two Stonar ISODE’S as well as a valuable team member at many NSEA competitions.
Hope Nicholson has been flying the flag at BE100U18 events this summer with very consistent results. She has also been a regular team member for Marlborough College at NSEA results with an individual placing and a team win at the NSEA one day event at Calmsden

Marlborough college pupil, Milo Kennedy,  has taken the step up to BE Novice in his stride and completed his first CIC* at Chilham Castle this season.

Alice Gates and Maddie Gladstone were part of the St Mary's team that finished in 8th place in the hotly contested 70/75cm show jumping NSEA Championships at Addington in October. Alice and Maddie were also part of the winning 70/75cm Stonar ISODE team in September, where Alice also picked up an individual 2nd place.
It was recently that time of year for the annual Stockley Farm Clients Christmas Show........
Thank you to everyone who attended, Maggie Doel for judging and Bealuh Wilson for helping.  We all had great fun watching the dressage to music that was very cleverly choreographed and performed by entrants, the many successful attempts at jumping the joker fence which was a large hedge in the jumping and style competition and the five of you that cleared 1 metre 30 in the Chase me Charlie.

Welcome to.......
Jo Dudley who brings with her a wealth of competition experience, having competed at 2 star level eventing in the past. Jo is an extremely experienced producer of young horses having been based in Ireland for many years where she produced promising young horses to sell to top eventing names.
Equiclass made to measure riding boots and chaps. As some of you may have noticed a block of six stables have been converted to a smart new office where Equiclass are now based. Equiclass also stocks a wide range of standard size boots, so please get in touch to arrange a private appointment at the showroom at Stockley Farm to meet the team and try some boots on!

GOOD BYE TO...........

Janet –
Helen’s mother who played a key part in helping establish Stockley Farm as a successful livery and competition yard.  She was regularly seen keeping an eye on proceedings at the yard and supporting Helen at events across the country. She was also renowned for providing fantastic picnics on competition days as well as taking a keen interest in the young homebred horses. She is very sorely missed

Sarah King who left the team at the end of the summer having worked over seven years at Stockley Farm. Sarah and her husband Gareth are now expecting their first child early next year so we would like to send them our congratulations on this fabulous news.

Kirstie Johnson also left us to pursue her career in accounting and we wish her every luck with her new adventure.

Scratchy – the yard cat who was a firm favorite of clients and staff.  She started her days as feral and ended up being so tame that she was even known to jump in client’s cars and horseboxes and had no fear of any dog on the yard!
THANK YOU IN 2017 TO.........
