2017 Lake Cootharaba SC Weta Challenge - Hamish Uquhart
The weather was not very promising in the week before the Race Series and access roads were flooded on Friday. However 12 Wetas turn up on the Saturday and we had our own start after the rest of the fleet. It was terrific to see 11 Wetas on the start line together including Roger Kitchen, MD of Weta Marine, who was making a guest visit and sailed Laurie Armstrong’s boat for two of the races on Saturday, while Laurie was otherwise engaged.

Texas 200 in a Weta
Sailor Peter Lange shares a remarkably detailed account of his participation in the Texas 200 sailing event on his Weta trimaran in this post. It’s so detailed that I have little doubt some folks are going to end up referring to this webpage when going over their own plans for a camp-cruise. It’s that detailed.
Enjoy!

Tom Kirkman - Weta Gusts
|
|
The bane of the inland lake sailor is gusty wind. Stop and go. Sometimes hammer gusts. You're just grateful when they come at you from the same direction (as in this video). My Oak Hollow and Belews sailing friends will recognize this type sailing - some times it goes on for hours. It can be frustrating, but you take what you can get. The guys who don't pay attention on these type days pay a price.

Back to Buzzelli - Stephanie Taylor
This annual regatta, aptly named after the late Bob Buzzelli whose life was cut way too short is one of the largest annual east coast events hosting various multihull classes. Bob had a tremendous impact on the Sarasota Youth Sailing Program and invested time, energy and resources to develop this group of young sailors.
