Merry Christmas everyone!

Wow - what a year!

Thanks for joining us in 2017. A lot has happened: Steph joined the band on bass; we had our first overseas trip (to NZ - heading back there in Easter next year); we recorded a new album (and it sounds great, we think); Adrian had his second child; and Andrew got married, with a great band providing the entertainment!

2018 has a lot in store too. Like last year, we'll be bringing in the new year by flying over Antarctica, and then it's off for a quick summer tour:

Shirazz's quick summer tour 2018

Jan 11th: Wagga

We haven't played at Wagga since the last jazz festival in 2014 - but we're coming back for one night only at the Home Tavern. If you're around Wagga then we'd love for you to drop in. Doors are at 7pm, show starts at 8, tickets are $10 on the door.

Jan 12th: Canberra

We've been invited to perofrm at the "Jazz in January" concert hosted by the Canberra Jazz Club, at the Southern Cross Club Woden. Showtime 8pm.

Tickets are $27.65 (+bf). Call 02 6283 7200 or visit ticketek to book.

Jan 13th: Thredbo

Le Blanc Poolside Party -- dress code: your most elegant whites! Yep, a spectacular cocktail party with tantalising cuisine and the sweet sounds of Shirazz, plus prizes for best dressed! At the Thredbo Alpine Hotel. Tickets are $69, including food and a drink on arrival. Call (02) 6459 4200 or email tahreception@evt.com to book. The whole thing starts at 5pm.

Back in Melbourne

Melbournites, don't worry, we'll be back in town before long. We've got a couple of gigs coming up that ought to be great fun!

Open Studio (with the Slip Dixies)

After a really fun collaboration with the Slip Dixies at Open Studio in August, we're back to do it again in January! Jan 21st, 2:30-4:30, settle in with the Slip Dixies and Shirazz and enjoy an afternoon of some of the best trad around. The Slip Dixies were formed in 2015 and play early jazz and blues from the 20s and 30s. They feature a strong five-piece lineup including Susy Hull on vocals & washboard (Susy is the fiance of our banjo player Michael Hanley, and has sung with Shirazz on occasion too). Entry is by donation. Open Studio is at 204 High Street Northcote.

The Lomond Hotel

And on 17 Feb we're heading to the historic Lomond Hotel, East Brunswick, for what could only be a fantastic trad jazz party. Still working on the details of this one, but put it in your diaries now!

Other upcoming gigs

Somehow in amongst all that we're fitting in a visit to the Port Fairy Jazz Festival (Feb 9-11). And there'll be an album launch sometime in Feb or March... you heard it here first! Details will be out soon :) Plus there's more gigs on our revamped gig guide -- check it out!

Don't forget to like us on facebook for all the latest Shirazz news, photos, videos, etc, etc.

Have a wonderful Christmas and we'll see you all in 2018!

Cheers,

...from Matt :)
