Clean
Laughs

Hello…is this Gordon’s Pizza?

No sir, it's Google Pizza.

I must have dialled a wrong number. Sorry.

No sir, Google bought Gordon’s Pizza last month.

OK. I would like to order a pizza.

Do you want your usual, sir?

My usual? You know me?

According to our caller ID data sheet, the last 12 times you called you ordered an extra-large pizza with three cheeses, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms and meat balls on a thick crust.

OK! That’s what I want …

May I suggest that this time you order a pizza with ricotta, arugula, sun-dried tomatoes and olives on a whole wheat gluten free thin crust?

What? I detest vegetables.

Your cholesterol is not good, sir.

How the hell do you know?

Well, we cross-referenced your home phone number with your medical records. We have the result of your blood tests for the last 7 years.

Okay, but I don't want your rotten vegetable pizza!  I already take medication for my cholesterol.

Excuse me sir, but you have not taken your medication regularly. According to our database, you only purchased a box of 30 cholesterol tablets once, at Drug sale Network, 4 months ago.

I bought more from another drugstore.

That doesn’t show on your credit card statement.

I paid in cash.

But you did not withdraw enough cash according to your bank statement.

I have other sources of cash.

That doesn’t show on your last tax return unless you bought them using an undeclared income source, which is against the law.

WHAT THE HELL?

I'm sorry, sir, we use such information only with the sole intention of helping you.

Enough already! I'm sick to death of Google, Facebook, Twitter, What’s App and all the others.

I'm going to an island without internet, cable TV, where there is no cell phone service and no one to watch  or spy on me.

I understand sir, but you need to renew your passport first.  It expired 6 weeks ago.

Mick, from Dublin, appeared on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'
and towards the end of the program had already won 500,000 euros.
"You've done very well so far," said Chris Tarrant, the show's presenter,
"but for a million euros you've only got one life-line left, phone a friend.
Everything is riding on this question. Will you go for it?"
"Sure," said Mick. "I'll have a go!"
"Which of the following birds does NOT build its own nest?
a) Sparrow
b) Thrush,
c) Magpie,
or d) Cuckoo?"
"I haven't got a clue." said Mick,
''So I'll use my last lifeline and phone my friend Paddy back home in Dublin..."
Mick called up his mate, and told him the circumstances and
repeated the question to him.
"Blinkin hell, Mick!" cried Paddy.
"Dat's simple it's a cuckoo."
"Are you sure?"
"I'm fookin sure."
Mick hung up the phone and told Chris, "I'll go with cuckoo as my answer."
"Is that your final answer?" asked Chris.
"Dat it is."
There was a long, long pause and then the presenter screamed,
"Cuckoo is the correct answer! Mick, you've won 1 million euros!"

The next night, Mick invited Paddy to their local pub to buy him a drink.
"Tell me, Paddy? How in Heaven's name did you know it was da Cuckoo that doesn't build its own nest?"
“Because he lives in a Blinkin clock!"

It's Not 'Just the Carpet'
Many water damage pros have been called by good people just like you who need help “just sucking up the water from the carpet.”

This can be water from an overflowing sink, toilet, maybe a washing machine that got a little ambitious during the spin cycle… or it could be from something more serious, like a broken water pipe or roof damage from a storm.

No matter what, some homeowners only see and think about the squishy carpet and don’t know about all those other areas in the home where water has affected it.

That kind of thinking can get you into a lot of trouble.

While water can just damage the carpet, it usually goes other places as well… such as down the register vents into floors below, behind baseboards and then under the walls and then up the drywall, into other rooms, under furniture that you never move, and into all kinds of other areas. It can also get into wood floors you thought were watertight, creating all kinds of very expensive problems if you don’t get it all dried out quick.

Sucking up the water is just part of the job. Detecting where the moisture really went is important, as well as using professional tools and drying equipment to reach those areas and get them like they were before — bone dry, and safe for your family.

Calling your water damage pro immediately and then listening to his expert advice is something smart consumers (just like you) must do when water causes damage to your home. If you wait too long, you invite a host of difficulties, such as mold and odors that are challenging to remove.

Remember, it’s not “just the carpet” — it can be other areas of your home as well. Don’t take a chance. Call your water damage pro. Call Jumbuck Cleaning & Restoration on 1800 787 184.

Breathe Easy with Better Indoor Air Quality

As you start reading this, do a quick exercise. Breathe in, really deep… go ahead, fill your lungs.

Feels good, right?

Taking a deep breath of air, especially outdoors after a thunderstorm or when the air is crisp and clean, smells and feels good. It’s refreshing.

But taking a deep breath of air inside, such as in a home or commercial building, can be a different matter altogether.

The air you breathe, you innocently assume, is clean and healthy. That may not always be the case, as reports of poor indoor air quality (IAQ) prove that not every indoor environment can be considered healthy.

When indoor air quality is poor, there can be issues for many people, especially those who suffer from allergies, asthma, respiratory illnesses, among others. The list can be quite extensive.

Poor indoor air quality doesn’t mean just “stuffy” air, the type that can build up in a home that doesn’t have sufficient air exchanges during the day. Although that can contribute to poor health for some individuals, what really causes health concerns is excessive dust, pet dander, pollen, mould, and other pollutants. While these pollutants are often indoors, they can also be outdoors, and you must recognize the affect they have on your health. For instance, you may decide to stay indoors when you hear of an outdoor poor air quality report on the news.

What you can control, though, at least to some degree, is the indoor air quality in your home.

What can you do? It’s simple. Keep things clean. Change your furnace and air conditioning filter on a regular basis, according to the manufacturer. Use a quality vacuum for your carpet and furniture and use it weekly, and more often if you have a busy household. Those hard floors? They need cleaned as well, as dust can easily build up and become airborne from those surfaces. When you dust surfaces, such as shelves or countertops, use a soft cloth that will hold the dust instead of pushing it off onto the floor.

And, of course, have your carpet and furniture cleaned based on the recommendation of your favourite cleaning company. In fact, isn’t it time you had your carpet and furniture cleaned… right now?

Do the best thing, make the call today. After all, it pays to call a pro!

Ask Jolly Jumbuck?

Dear Jolly Jumbuck: My daughter spilled red candle wax on the carpet in her room.  How do I remove it?

                signed, Anxious Mother

Dear Anxious: You will need the following household items: a plastic bag with ice in it, a brown paper bag and a steam iron.  First set the bag of ice over the wax and let it sit for 15 minutes.  This will make the wax brittle.  Remove the ice bag and break away as much wax from the carpet as you can.  Next, place a single layer of the brown paper bag over the wax (sorry plastic won’t work here) and set the iron over it on the steam setting.  As the wax melts, it will absorb into the bag.  Check your progress every 15 seconds.  Do not leave the iron on the same spot for more than 2 minutes total.  Warning, some carpets made from polyester or olefin (polypropylene), melt at lower temperatures.  If you are not certain what your carpet is made of, test an area in the back of a closet or on a scrap before attempting this.

Dear Jolly Jumbuck: I have 3 children, a dog, a cat, a bird and a husband.  My carpets really take a beating.  When I use a carpet spotter that I purchased at the supermarket, it removes the spots, but they seem to come right back.  Sometimes bigger.  What’s wrong?

                 signed, Household CEO

Dear CEO: The problem is most likely in the spot remover that you are using. Most spotters contain soaps or detergents. Soaps are made from animal fats, detergents are made from petroleum products. Both will leave a soil attracting residue in your carpet if not rinsed properly with clear water. After rinsing, blot well with a dry towel.

We sell a great line of low-residue carpet spotters. Call our office and we will be glad to help you get some.
