Dear <<First Name>>,
Beware of 'Holiday Heart' Syndrome in Your Guests and Family
Be aware! It’s the time of year when binging on alcohol may bring on symptoms of Atrial Fibrillation in normally healthy party goers. Called “Holiday Heart Syndrome”, many will end up in a hospital’s emergency room.
Excessive alcohol is not the only culprit. Recreational use of marijuana, large quantities of rich food, and even cold weather can compound the risk as well.
As you celebrate, encourage others to avoid heavy alcohol consumption. Look for the symptoms of “holiday heart” among your merrymakers. Anyone with any heart symptoms should go to the ER. If they’re lucky, it will be a one time event.
Happy New Year to all. I welcome your email, Your A-Fib friend....Steve Ryan
