Learn to Sail Update
In December we had 30 aspiring sailors supported by 26 instructors over 5 days for our Learn to Sail week.  Conditions were ideal with warm temperatures and light to moderate wind during the week.

Our next LTS will be January 15-19.  Join us to celebrate their graduation on Friday January 19, from 5.00 pm. Have a BBQ dinner, meet the parents and enjoy a drink to celebrate the start of the weekend.
Nationals & Racing Updates
54th Sabot Nationals & Lyn Hanlon Sabot week
Sailed out of Darling Point Sailing Squadron, Brisbane Queensland 83 boats participated in the event held from Dec 27 to Jan 3.  Lane Cove was represented by Edward Coats in the senior 1-up who finished 22 out of 47 boats in the senior 1-up division, a fantastic result for his first season in sabots.  Zara Coates teamed up with Liam Stanaway for sabot week which held racing in the morning for novice sailors.  Zara and Liam collected 3rd on handicap in the Junior 2-Up division.

One highlight of the week was meeting Australian Olympic medalist Matt Belcher who started out his sailing career in the sabot class.

Congratulations to all our 12's sailors over in NZ. Looks like NZ are winners with Nick and Andrew in Sydney Sailmakers Murray & coming in 2nd place overall on scratch and The Bird coming in 3rd on Handicap.

Flying 11 Nationals
A large contingent of Lane Cove Flyers are contesting the Flying 11 Nationals being sailed out of Manly 16ft Skiff Club from January 12 to 19, 2018.  Follow the event here 
Australia Day at LC12ftSSC
Sabot sailors, family and friends join us on Friday 26 January, 2018 for the 182nd Australia Day Regatta, the oldest continuously-conducted annual sailing regatta in the world.

In conjunction with the Southern NSW Sabot Association the club has taken on this annual event to support junior sailing in sabots. 

LC12ftSSC will be running three sprint races for 1-Up and 2-Up divisions as well as novelty activities.  Prizes will be awarded for best dressed boats, best dressed sailors and members and friends are encouraged to join in the spirit of the day. 
 
On the deck egg & bacon rolls will be available from 9:30am and families are invited to join us for a sausage sizzle and afternoon tea following the sailing.

LC12ftSSC LTS graduates and members contact training@lc12ftssc.org.au if you would like to use one of the club boats on the day (bookings essential).

We are seeking help from club members to help make the day run smoothly.  Volunteers are required on the water in support boats, and on land greeting visitors, flipping eggs, turning sausages, selling drinks and lifting boats.
