Planes of Perception

Five Photographers and a Cookbook

Lizzy Davies, Curator, Urban Concept Gallery

Reaching for rarefied heights of expression in photographic fine art, we will challenge your peripheral vision, distort your illusion of reality, and gratify your inner spirit. Feast your eyes upon these elusive mysteries, cosmic visions of wonder, testaments of passion, and fine-tuned instruments of imagination.
Textural experiences, derived from passion, infused with colour, elevate fine art to a lush new plane of perception. We know your longing, we sense your desire, we will reveal our curiosities, divulge our secrets, and curate a remedy for your winter blues!

The Quiet Rebuild

The Quiet Rebuild portraits address hardship, death, and tragedy, yet even greater so: the resiliency of the human spirit. The Quiet Rebuild has been exhibited internationally, published in magazines and journals, and is helping break taboos around important yet often hidden topics.

Marshall Lake

Greg Gerla

Adrift

With the Adrift series, photographer Greg Gerla, pays homage to the past. The subject matter, itself, is also evidence of the past. Trees that have lived, and then completed their life with a voyage on the sea, coming to rest in sensual, harmonious compositions upon the
sand and rocks.

Walnut

Walnut is a video exploration into vulnerability and emotive output. As an endurance performance, the video presents a discussion of hidden emotions and the privacy of inward expression.

David Leech

Re-Cognition

The psychological result of perception, learning, and reasoning—all over again.
Surprising and beauteous images that evoke and excite, sanctioning poetic license beyond the norm. Allowing the paradigms to shift and revel in the mysterious.

Brenda Castonguay

Hand Painted Tins

Brenda combines her past experience in art with her passion of photography by printing her images on high gloss metal (dye sublimation transfer), then hand painting the textures and details with acrylic textured gel mediums, resulting in a highly detailed tactile experience of her stunning landscapes and macro florals. Art you are encouraged to touch!

Pancake Inventor's Notebook

A Photographer's Cookbook

David & Lizzy love to cook and host epicurean parties with wine pairings, audiophile stereo, fine art, laughter and conversation. Their Pancake Inventor’s Notebook was 15 years in the making: bursts of hungry inspiration in between curating life, travel, work and fine art photography.
