Cricket anyone?
Dear Team Rhino,
Firstly we would like to wish all our supporters a Happy New Year. We hope that you have enjoyed some wonderful time with your family and friends during the festive season.
The Australian Rhino Team have started the new year with a flurry of activity, so we thought we would share some exciting updates with you.
Rhino Day at the G
The Australian Rhino Project will team up with Melbourne Stars and South African born cricketer Kevin Pietersen to host Rhino Day at the G’ on Saturday 27 January at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The game will support rhino conservation in Australia and will be the last chance to see the Stars in action this 2018 season.
Retiring international cricket legend Kevin Pietersen has a close connection with rhino welfare, having spent the past four years raising awareness and funding for rhino conservation across South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia.
“We’ve raised over a million rand (AUD$!00,000) for rhino conservation, and there is more to be done on Saturday 27 January,” Pietersen said.
Melbourne Stars principal partner Optus will donate $1 from every ticket sold to The Australian Rhino Project, with funds raised from the event to go towards plans to continue building the existing rhino population and creating a secure home for them in Australia.
Victorian-based sculptor Matt Hill will also showcase a life-sized rhino sculpture “Hope” at the MCG to raise further awareness and support for saving the rhinos.
