Acting on the Words of Jesus

Christmas Day in Inverness finally dawned in the knowledge that the turkeys were cooked and everything else was at least bought and ready. We had a host of volunteers who had offered to give up their Christmas Day to come and cook and to serve lunches to people who may drop into the Cathedral for their Christmas lunch.

Time for Something New

A few months ago, when I left Scottish School of Christian Mission, I described myself as being at a fork in the road. I knew that God was asking me to trust him with my future, and that the autumn was to be about my doctoral research, but I truly had no idea as to what I might do next.

The Astonishing Community

One of the first things that I discovered, as my family explored the Autistic Spectrum and our various positions within it, was the concept of neurodiversity; the idea that all of our brains are wired differently, giving us differing gifts and challenges. Whilst many people have a “neurotypical” set up, sharing common patterns of functioning, others use their brains in delightfully quirky ways. The community identifying itself as “neurodiverse”, trying to embrace all these quirks and typicalities, has adopted for its patron saint, St Christina the Astonishing.
