Are You Ready? Dialogue Series: The Evolution of the #MeToo Movement and Sexual Harassment and Assault Awareness and Prevention Resources at UM
Presented by: Center for Inclusion and Cross Cultural Engagement and RASA
In observance of International Women’s Day on March 8th, the Center for Inclusion and Cross Cultural
Engagement will sponsor an Are You Ready? Dialogue Series in partnership with RASA: Rebels Against Sexual Assault. This year’s IWD theme is #PressforProgress, and in anticipation of the Women’s Empowerment Address on March 20th featuring keynote speaker Tarana Burke, founder of the #metoo Movement, this dialogue will focus on Burke’s transformational commitments to supporting survivors, and will explore Burke’s intersectional emphasis on creating conversations around how young women of color from low wealth communities are particularly affected. Join us as we explore issues raised by the #metoo Movement and question how it has impacted conversations in the public sphere, both in current news reports and in the wake of the Golden Globes. Representatives from RASA will discuss their campus efforts to raise awareness about sexual assault at UM and provide tips on how to practice active bystander intervention strategies.
6 pm, Bryant 111
