NEP Closing Press Conference at Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses Roller Rink, 12/19/17

West End SPEAKS to West End ACTS

The 90-day Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP) blitz through the West End brought together residents, community and business organizations.

Results of the blitz included a 36% reduction in violent crime, a 19% reduction in blight and more than 400 volunteers from numerous organizations took part in several neighborhood cleanups. Signature projects included outdoor raised garden beds, a new community roller skating rink at the Seven Hills Neighborhood Houses, initiated stabilization of row houses on Baymiller and support for the West End Art Gallery.

With the close of NEP, came the announcement of the next Citirama show which will happen in the West End. The development is named "CiTiRAMA @Stowe Place,” in honor of the former Stowe School. This new development of 54 single-family homes will be situated along Ezzard Charles Drive between John, Clark and Cutter streets at market rate prices. The Home Show is scheduled from September 8-16, 2018.

With development comes questions, concerns and the opportunity for you to be more active with the events happening in and to your neighborhood. Work with your community and join a WE SPEAKS team today! Contact Tia Brown at tia.brown@7hillsnh.com or call 513-407-5362 for more information.

DIFFERENCE MAKER

The West End Sisters for Life are going strong and just celebrated their one year anniversary of making a positive difference in the West End. For the last two years, the group has volunteered at the Carl H Lindner, "Lunch with Santa" event. There the sisters cook, serve food and give away toys and bikes to the families who attend the event. Funds to support their giving are donated and raised by having split the pot fundraisers. The West End Sisters for Life have also helped with school supply drives.

This sixteen member group is made up of women who grew up in the West End, with four of the members still living in the neighborhood. Please reach out to Stacey Reynolds at stacey.reynolds53.sr@gmail.com, to learn how you can support these lovely ladies and their mission.
