Capital Rotunda Concerts - March 2018
Dear Music Educators
Now is the time to begin planning for the annual Music in Our Schools Month rotunda concerts this coming March. This will be my final year to host, and I hope many groups will be able to make the trip to the state capitol.
I have selected the following days for our concerts: March 7, 8, and 9. On March 7th the legislature has reserved some rotunda time, so we will need to work around it. I have asked if they would like to have a group perform for them—and I am awaiting their response.
I would like to suggest a theme of “The Power of Music,” in the 2018 concerts. I believe strongly in this message and would like to hear music that revolves around it. It is not necessary that you follow this theme, just a suggestion. Unfortunately, only choral groups and small strings or ensembles are allowed to perform in the rotunda. Each group should prepare about 15 minutes of music. It is always great to have your students stay for the following group, in order to have an audience.
Please just complete the questions below and send them back to me: pjwenner@sde.idaho.gov
Thanks for all your hard work in music classrooms around the state. I hope to greet many of you this spring in the rotunda!
Best regards,
Peggy

When educators bring their students to the state capitol, they often ask questions about arranging for a capitol tour. I have included the link below for your convenience. Capitol Mall Tour information:
