The summer teams are now well into competition mode and the City would love to hear about your club’s successes across the season. Please contact me to feature your achievements in the Club Spirit or if you have had any recent changes in committee members.
The City will be hosting a Media Savvy workshop on Tuesday 20 March 2018 run by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries aimed at helping clubs and groups connect with new and existing members using social media. This free session is open to sports and community clubs and organisations from culture and the arts and multicultural groups. Workshop includes; ways to use social media to your advantage, managing your club’s reputation online, and lots of tips and tricks to get clubs started and make the most of their communications and some group exercises on hash tagging.

Construction works for stage one of the $10.5m redevelopment of Ernest Johnson Oval are now complete with clubs settling in to the state of the art facilities. Stage two works have begun and include demolition of the old buildings, cricket nets and Rotary Hall.
The City receives a high volume of Active Reserve Bookings. To assist us with your request and ensure your booking is processed correctly, please read these friendly reminders:
Appoint a facility/grounds booking contact person
Ensure line markings don't damage the turf
Only use approved sports line marking products and not chemicals
Review fixtures.
Any extra club bookings will require prior approval. If your club receives a request to book a reserve, please refer them to the City's bookings office on 9474 0777.
South Perth Lawn Tennis Club was established in 1898. The club has a proud history of over 100 years of tennis in the City of South Perth and is located on the corner of Murray St and McNabb Loop in Como, Western Australia. If you would like to know more about playing tennis contact the club.
In July 2017, the George Burnett Leisure Centre (GBLC) sports hall in Karawara suffered water damage causing the timber floor to warp and the courts were closed for safety reasons. Clontarf-Waterford-Salter Point (CWSP) Foreshore Masterplan
Following community consultation in 2017, the City has prepared a draft CWSP Foreshore Masterplan. The draft plan is available for feedback on Your Say South Perth until 4pm, Monday 26 February 2018.
The City of South Perth and Town of Victoria Park have released a draft Joint Bike Plan following consultation and stakeholder workshops in 2017. The draft plan is available for public comment on Your Say South Perth until 4pm, Monday 12 March 2018.
Bankwest have supported over 1,500 community groups on the journey towards achieving their goals, with grants of up to $1,000. Find out more or apply for a Community Grant.
Kidsport enables eligible Western Australian children aged between 5 to 18 years to participate in community sport and recreation by offering them financial assistance of up to $150 per calendar year towards club fees. Families with a valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card can now apply online. Hard copy application forms are still available and can be submitted to local governments.
