The Chesapeake Bay watershed is now home to 1,292 boat ramps, fishing piers and other places that put people in touch with the water: 51 percent of the Chesapeake Bay Program's goal.

Sustainable schools rise 22 percent in two years
Between 2015 and 2017, the number of certified sustainable public and charter schools in the Chesapeake Bay watershed rose from 501 to 610. At 82 percent of the total, Maryland is home to most of the sustainable schools in the region.

Area students experiencing the outdoors at school 
Forty-one percent of the school districts that responded to a 2017 survey reported providing "system-wide" Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences to their elementary schoolers; 43 percent reported doing so for their middle schoolers; and 32 percent reported doing so for their high schoolers.
