Nomination and Election of Officers for 2018/19

The nominations and election for the 2018/19 year will be held at the regular meetings in February. Nominations will be made at the February 6th meeting. If only one person is nominated for each office on February 6th, then at that time, nominations will be closed. The election will take place at the second meeting in February, the 20th, as a group. If more than one person is nominated for a particular office than that office will be voted on separately.

If no nomination for a particular office is made at the February 6th meeting, or if all candidates previously nominated for a particular office decline or withdraw, nominations for that office may be made at the 2nd meeting in February immediately preceding the election.

If you're interested in serving in an elected or appointed position, we'd like to hear from you. Just contact June Maher, Jack Houlihan, Les Owen, Paul Diaz, Tex McClurken, Donna Knerr, Craig Waskow or Dennis Ryan by January 17th.  You may send an email to any of the above PERs via our website at the Lodge Officers or Committees pages.

We'll be holding a meeting for interested members on January 21st at 1:30 pm at the Lodge to answer questions, to ask questions and to explain what serving in a position means; and the benefits to you and the Lodge.

All inquiries and interest are greatly appreciated. Submitted by Paul Diaz, Exalted Ruler.

Queen of Hearts Raffle

Last week's raffle winner was Judy Landgrave. She selected envelope #49 which contained the Queen of Spades and won $100. The next Jackpot will be $884. To see the results of all our raffles to date and to find out if your lucky number is left, visit this page on our website at winners.veroelks.com.

Raffles are held every Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Lounge.

Buy your raffle tickets from the Bartenders. They are $1 a chance, $5 for 6 and $20 for 25. For those members that cannot come to the Lodge each week, we are offering a subscription for multiple weeks. If a raffle ends with the Queen of Hearts being picked, subscriptions will continue with the next raffle. Click here to access the Subscription Form.

The Rules of the Game are published on our website at qofh.veroelks.com and in the Lounge right below of Queen of Hearts game board. We've developed a Frequently Asked Question and Answer set that is available now in a trifold brochure format.

This raffle has the potential to be a huge money-maker for our charities, but we need your support to make it happen. Come to the Lodge and buy your tickets or start a subscription.

 Books for needy children

We are collecting new and used children's books all year long for our needy kids at Vero Beach Elementary School. In 2017, we collected and distributed over 300 children’s books. Pictured on the left is a basket in the Lounge on the shuffleboard table for children's book donations. It looks pretty empty. Can you help us fill it up for 2018?

El Schneider Raffle

El Schneider Raffle Tickets are now available for purchase or to sign out at the bar. We have also mailed two tickets to each member that they can sell to anybody: friends, neighbors, family members or even other people they might not like and make friends of them.

All this for a good cause, because not only can they win great prizes whether they are the buyer or the seller. That’s right, you can win two different ways and the Lodge is also a winner, because all the profits will benefit the Lodge and go to the El Schneider Memorial Fund. This is the ONLY fundraiser held to help the Lodge itself and will allow us to be able to maintain our building and property in the future.

I invite all members to visit our award winning website and read about El Schneider on our Frequently Asked Questions and Answers page. A trifold brochure with this same information was mailed to all members with their two tickets. Paul Diaz, Exalted Ruler.
