Thanks to the magic of social media, I was discovered to be the photographer of this great pic from 1975. We all get a little sentimental at the holidays and these two women were the love of my life – Jake wrote the music for my poem Strong and Free and Debbie and I were roommates. They were true kindred spirits, artists and dear friends. Time and life has pulled us apart but I love them still.

From the “History repeats itself” Department:

“Common to all the people of this age is the fact that more is weighing on them than they can bear; no one is equal to his or her burden. Never before has life been so heavy for people; just to exist, they muster an effort that goes beyond their strength.” Hermann Bahr, Austrian writer and critic, 1900

It’s a challenge to say happy new year going into another year of Trump hell but I do wish you health and as much personal joy as you can muster. I want to express my gratitude to everyone who reads this newsletter, participates in building community and spends any amount of their personal time increasing joy in the world.
