This weekly SUNDAY THOUGHT has a new home. You can now find us at:

www.thesundaythought.com

A brand new site, still under construction, with the aim of enlarging our readers list and therefore getting the Word of God out to a bigger audience. The Sunday Thought itself will be unchanged except for our new logo. It will still be sent out absolutely free of charge to anybody who requests it. You may also still copy/paste and send it to others in your address book without seeking permission, as long as you keep it intact. We pray that you will like the changes. God bless.

The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw. Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand” Revelation 1:1-3

A close look at these opening three verses of this last book in the Bible, reveal a real serious lack of understanding of this prophecy among God's people. First, a very common mistake is made in calling this book “THE REVELATION OF ST. JOHN THE DIVINE” as in the much loved King James Version. The opening words of verse one give it it's true title, “THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST” The Apostle John was only the faithful message bearer.

Another mistake is made when people call it “THE BOOK OF REVELATIONS” (plural) Again, the opening words make it plain that it is ONE REVELATION not many. It is intended to be taken as a complete REVELATION of the very last days of this age. (“things which must shortly come to pass”)

In my opinion, the greatest mistake that is made with this wonderful book, is that it is not read often, and very rarely read in Churches. I receive many mails making the point that “Revelation is never read or preached on in my Church!” Yet it was our Lord's intention that it would be READ AND PREACHED when God's people met together. How do I know this?

Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy” Rev. 1:3

What other situation, other than a Church setting, would include THOSE THAT READ (out loud) and THOSE THAT HEAR?

Can you see this morning that Pastors and Congregations are missing out on TREMENDOUS BLESSINGS because they fail to do this. This wonderful PROPHECY needs to be READ IN CHURCH FELLOWSHIPS. Whether in a Cathedral, chapel or a house church meeting, wherever God's people meet together, it should be read and heard and understood as the Holy Spirit teaches us.

I suggest that if this is not being read and preached on in your fellowship, that you have a word with your Pastor and request it! Get that blessing that Jesus has promised!

For the time is at hand” Revelation 1:3b

There is an urgency in this Prophetic Revelation. This urgency appears to be in fast decline among God's people today. The Time is at hand, close to fulfillment. We need to take heed! When we turn to the final chapter (22) that URGENCY becomes all the more apparent.

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” Revelation 22:12

That word QUICKLY means SUDDENLY. He will come without warning. He's not like a train, running to mans timetable. His timing is always perfect, and when His 'clock' strikes midnight, Jesus is coming in the clouds! ARE YOU READY TO MEET HIM?

Going down to verse 17

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely” Revelation 22:17

I pray that you are one that “Heareth” and that you are in unison with God's Holy Spirit, and that you are saying:

Even so, come, Lord Jesus” Rev. 22:20
