Salford: ‘Swap to Stop’ EoI deadline extended
The deadline for pharmacies to submit expressions of interest in the ‘Swap to Stop’ pilot has been extended to 1pm on Friday (12th Jan). Selected pharmacies will be provided with information about vaping and how to support people in making the switch from tobacco to e-cigarettes. Participating pharmacies will support the public health LES by:
- Redeeming voucher postcards from current smokers, and encouraging them to switch to an e-cigarette;
- Conducting a CO test to interested participants to confirm they are a current smoker, and at regular intervals throughout the pilot project;
- Being a distribution point for participants to redeem their free e-cig ‘starter kit’ (chosen e-cig and 2-week supply of vape liquid), providing advice and guidance around choice of e-cig and vape liquid and strength; and
- Offering additional stop smoking advice if required.
Successful pharmacies will be contacted by close of play next Monday (15th Jan). Training will take place on the evening of Wednesday 17th January.
If your pharmacy would like to take part, complete the expression of interest form, and email it to Kuiama.thompson@salford.gov.uk by 1pm on Friday 12th January:
Note: This is a time-limited pilot funded by GMHSCP and at present there are no plans to roll out the project to other areas or to extend the project beyond the three-month timeframe.
