New Good News Club in Milford

There is a new CEF team in Milford with a heart for lost children in their community and dedication to evangelism. It started when Carolyn Horton called long-time friend, Margie Nesteroff, to tell her about CEF and the need for a club in her area. It so happened that Margie was very familiar with CEF because she helped with a Good News Club when she was a student at Covenant College in Lookout Mountain, GA. Margie and her husband, Joe, first observed a club in Lebanon and then began telling friends at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Milford about the work CEF is doing and added Roddy and Carol Bullock and Theresa Chumley to the team. Local CEF chapter chairperson, Carol Yockey, will help with the club when needed.
While most clubs are held at elementary schools, this one will be held at the clubhouse of Pebble Brooke Apartments, a low-income housing complex ministered to through a number of Faith Evangelical Free Church outreach programs. Club invitations/permission slips were handed out to 30 kids as they got off the school bus and eight came to the first club on January 22. More permission slips were handed out in the following weeks. Please join us in praising God for His grace and we ask for your prayers for this team and club.

Second lesson series for 2017-2018 teaches about the Patriarchs
Lessons continue from the Old Testament unfolding God's plan for His people and redemption through Jesus Christ. The main teaching for each week are: live your life to bring glory to God, faith is trusting in Jesus alone to be saved, depend on your faithful God to keep His promise, God has provided a Savior for you, Jesus can change you from the inside out and God wants to make you more like Jesus.

Meet the CEF Cincinnati Chapter Committee
Carolyn Horton has been involved with Good News Clubs for nine years and has been the club leader for two clubs for the past five years. She recently joined the committee and became the Good News Club Coordinator as of January 1. In this role Carolyn will grow the number of clubs in our area, train new club teams and provide support and direction.  She is also responsible for communications for our chapter.
Carolyn has many years of experience in Christian ministry, particularly children's ministry and ministry start ups. She is active in her church where she currently teaches first and second graders Wednesday nights and volunteers as a camp counselor in the summer. The Horton family has been part of the classical and Christian school movement in Cincinnati and Carolyn started such a school in Louisville, KY when the family moved there in 1997. Upon returning to Cincinnati, she was involved with her children's school, Mars Hill Academy in Mason, in a variety of administrative and teaching roles.

Keith and Carolyn have been married 31 years and live in Lebanon. They have two grown daughters, one living in Lebanon and the other in Columbus.
