Read more to find out what we've been up to here in Zambia this month. It's been such a wonderful month closing out the school year and celebrating the birth of our Savior!

Closing out the school year

This month all of the kids in primary school finished up the year. They had big exams that covered everything they had learned throughout the year and all worked very hard to do their best on those. We were able to review some with them before their test and make sure that they were ready to remember as much as they could about what they had learned. We are so proud of how much effort they put into their testing and learning throughout the year and it definitely seemed to pay off! In Zambia, it is a big deal what your class rank is in the lower grades even more so than when they graduate high school.

They had a big ceremony on their last day of school and went through each grade announcing their ranking from their testing. And almost every single one of our kids moved up in their class rankings since their last ceremony back in July! A lot of them had moved up into the top 5 of their class and got special recognition! The only one who dropped at all went from being #1 to #2 so it's definitely still impressive. It was very encouraging to know all of the work they've put into their tutoring and classes at school has paid off and then they got to enjoy their much deserved school holiday for the rest of the year!

Reading Party

Over the past several months we have started a reading program with the kids at Global Samaritans. The kids can check out books from the library and after they finish reading them they take a quiz to make sure they really read and understood the books.

The kids did so well and got so into reading! They got points depending on how hard they were for their grade level and then this December we had a big party where they could buy yummy treats with their points and watch a movie! We are so proud of how excited the kids were to read and would like to congratulate Mapolo on being the top scorer with over 300 points!

Talent Show

This month we had a talent show with the kids where they were able to showcase some of their talents for the house moms and each other! They had so much fun preparing for the show and practicing their many talents to show everyone!

We had several groups of girls an boys singing different songs and dance routines. A couple of the children even did magic tricks and wrote their own raps. Some of the younger boys even did a ninja routine! It was such a fun night with the kids and they really enjoyed using the gifts God has given them!

Merry Christmas!!

Christmas was such a fun celebration at Global Samaritans! On Christmas Eve at church they had a beautiful service where everyone was involved. The women's and men's groups preformed some songs, the youth did a beautiful nativity skit and the children's Sunday school sang a few Christmas carols. It was such a wonderful church service and was followed by a huge feast with the Global staff and children and church members from the surrounding villages.

On Christmas day the kids had such a fun time! They all got gift bags with new clothes and toys and goodies from sponsors! The highlight of most of their days was the delicious meal. They had all you can eat food and snacks along with soft drinks and yummy treats! The kids had so much fun eating and celebrating together! Then they had a program praising Jesus and thanking Him for coming to earth to save us. Thank you all for the love and support you've given to the children! We hope you all had a very merry Christmas!

How Can I Get Involved???

There are several ways you can get involved in what's going on at Global Samaritans. So many ways to get plugged into what God is doing in the hearts and the lives of the people of Zambia. The most important thing you can do is pray for the ministry we are able to accomplish here. We need God's help as we minister to the kids here and the people in the surrounding villages. Pray for us as we attempt to pour God's light and love in the hearts of the kids here at the children's home; as we attempt to grow mature, productive, Christian young men and women to go out and change the world. Pray for us as we go out into different villages around us to teach and disciple them on what it really means to live out the Christian life.

Another way you can be a part of what's going on at Global is to sponsor a child. They money that goes towards supporting a child helps provide them with food, clothing, school, housing needs and everything it takes to help a growing child succeed here in Zambia. These kids come from difficult situations but here at Global they are able to find a home and a family that loves them.

Your support helps give these kids a home and a family here at Global Samaritans when the rest of the world hasn't shown them much love at all. When you sponsor a child we'll keep you updated with letters and messages from the kids to help you keep in touch and build a relationship with the child you sponsor.

The next way you can be involved with Global Samaritans is coming to serve on a team trip. On a team trip you will have the opportunity to serve both here at Global and in some of the surrounding villages. You'll build connections with the children and get to experience the local culture and lifestyle.

You also get to spend a day or two taking in some of the sights of Africa, including Victoria Falls and even a safari to get a taste of Africa's wildlife. This life changing trip allows you to get a taste of exactly what our ministry here at Global is all about and allows you to be God's hands and feet to the country of Zambia.

Another way you can be involved is to donate to our well drilling ministry. This past year we have put in so many wells in villages where people are desperately in need of clean water. These families would have had to walk for miles each day bring home clean water for their basic needs.

Because of our generous sponsors, our well drilling team is able to go into remote villages and put in wells showing them how much God loves and cares about their needs. We are able to use it as a tool to go in a tell them about the love of God and living water we have through him.
