New Member Sunday, January 21. Joining our church family only requires filling out a simple New Member Form available at church or online, but we would like to make a formal welcome to all new members at worship this Sunday, January 21. At 9:15 that morning, Pastor Nick will meet with new members in the church office building to help everyone get to know each other and learn more about Abiding Grace. After late worship we will meet at Karen Hurtado's home for lunch to continue our conversation. If you would like to join please contact the church office and we will happily add you to the celebration!
Buy a brisket! Our Men's Group will be smoking whole briskets on Super Bowl weekend. Reserve one for your party and pick it up on Sunday, February 4. Each brisket will yield 7 to 8 pounds of exquisite smoked meat. The suggested donation is $100 with all proceeds being donated to GRACE and the Presbyterian Night Shelter. You must reserve your brisket by signing up at church. Do so before they are all gone!
Cowtown Brush Up. The Outreach Committee is assembing a team for the Cowtown Brush Up on Saturday, April 7, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a program of Habitat for Humanity, and we will be painting one house in Fort Worth for a family or individual in need. Volunteers must be at least 12 years of age, and all volunteers will receive a t-shirt. Team slots fill up quickly so we need to know ASAP who wishes to volunteer for this project. If you are interested please sign up at the Outreach kiosk on Sunday (include your shirt size). Public registration opens February 1 so if we have enough people interested, Alissa Peters will register us as a team before then. For more information, please see Alissa or view online.
Sunday School News. Sunday School has started up for the new year. The Pre-K and elementary grades continue with the Spark curriculum that aligns with the scripture readings each Sunday. The SS Kid's Choir is learning the books of the Old and New Testaments through song.

The junior and senior high students are finishing up an overview of the bible using "Echo the Story" curriculum. Next they will study the prophets and kings.

Adult Sunday School is now being led by Lori and Arthur Anderson. Thank you to Kenn Mingus for many years of leading the class!
Sound Tech Basics. There will be a Sound Tech Basics class on Saturday, January 27, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. for anyone interested (high school age and above) in learning the sound board, lighting panel and video system. The class is also open for any current techs who would like a refresher. We are in need of a few more techs to operate the systems during worship services and special events. If interested please contact Nick Tomlin or email the office so we have a count of attendees.
Volunteer opportunities. We have several needs for volunteers currently:
  1. Worship assistants and volunteers. As we begin two services we are in need of more worship assistants and volunteers for each service. Please email Vanessa for more information.
  2. Meal preparation. We are in need of a few more people to prepare and deliver meals to elderly, sick, and recovering. For more information, please contact Margaret Anderson.
  3. Sunday School substitute teachers are needed. If you are interesting in helping in our classes, please contact Taylor.
  4. Youth nursery volunteers. Are you in 7th – 12th grade and interested in volunteering in the nursery on Sundays? If you can help please contact Kathy Humen or the church office.
Semi-Annual Congregational Meeting. Our winter meeting of members will be held on Sunday, January 28, at 11:45 a.m. Please plan to attend this important meeting.

Committee resources. Much of the ministry of our congregation is led by various committees. If you are currently on a committee or considering joining one and would like information on available resources, please read the Committee Handbook which is available online.
